The chart paper has allowed us to create engaging anchor charts together during lessons. For example, during a recent reading lesson, we worked as a class to build an anchor chart on identifying the main idea and supporting details. Students contributed their thoughts, and we referred back to the chart throughout the week, which really helped reinforce their understanding. The magnetic boards have also been a huge success—students use them during small group instruction to practice word building, math problems, and sorting activities in a hands-on way.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their faces lit up with excitement. They were especially eager to use the magnetic boards because it made learning feel more like play. Even simple things like having fresh pencils and plenty of copy paper made them feel prepared and ready to learn. It created a sense of pride and ownership in their work.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, we are now able to take our learning even further. Our next steps include continuing to build anchor charts that support our reading and math standards, while encouraging students to create their own charts in small groups. We will also be using the magnetic boards for more interactive centers, where students can collaborate, solve problems, and explain their thinking. These resources are helping us build a more engaging, student-centered classroom where learning is both meaningful and fun.\r\n\r\nThank you again for giving my students the tools they need to succeed!","fullyFundedDate":1766101416579,"projectUrl":"project/tools-for-learning-success-in-2nd-grade/9576596/","projectTitle":"Tools for Learning Success in 2nd Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. U","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8021586_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1688749801127","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8021586"},{"teacherId":10050361,"projectId":9397445,"letterContent":"I want to take a moment to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity in providing supplies for my preschool classroom. Because of your kindness, my students are starting the school year with the tools they need to learn, explore, and create.\r\n\r\nWith the Florida heat keeping us indoors for recess, the items you donated have been such a blessing. The exercise dice have given my preschoolers a fun and active way to move around the classroom, even when we can't go outside. The Play-Doh has sparked their imagination while also strengthening their fine motor skills. And the crayons—oh, what a hit they've been! My little artists light up every time they get to color, and it has quickly become one of their favorite parts of the day.\r\n\r\nYour donation of dry erase markers with erasers on top was especially impactful on the very first day of school. My students practiced tracing lines with so much excitement, and later they used them on their ten-frames to proudly show me their numbers. These small but powerful moments are building the foundation for their learning journey, and it wouldn't have been possible without your support.\r\n\r\nA special thank you to the Bezos Family Foundation for believing in my students and investing in their education. The new books you helped us receive are doing more than filling our shelves—they're filling our days with curiosity, conversation, and growth.\r\n\r\nMany of these texts introduce essential early literacy skills. We're exploring story elements like characters, setting, and plot, while also diving into foundational reading strategies such as decoding, fluency, and making predictions. The books have sparked meaningful discussions about themes like kindness, problem-solving, and courage, which helps my students connect reading to real life.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is both a shared and independent experience. We read aloud as a class, buddy-read in pairs, and curl up for quiet reading time with books that match each student's level and interest. It's joyful and focused—exactly what you'd hope to see in a learning space!\r\n\r\nOne student who's really blossomed with these new books is a first grader who once hesitated to pick up anything with too many words. Now, with access to decodable texts and high-interest stories, he's eagerly reading aloud to his classmates and proudly choosing new titles during our book choice time. Watching his confidence soar has been one of the best moments of the year.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in the power of books—and in our kids.","fullyFundedDate":1723646103613,"projectUrl":"project/funding-our-classroom-library/8479820/","projectTitle":"Funding Our Classroom Library","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Brannon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9582096_orig.png?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1719951624408","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9582096"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_46247","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":558,"numTeachers":48,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":77,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":44.8,"schoolId":46247,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Havana Magnet School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Havana Magnet School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/gadsden-county-school-district/havana-middle-school/46247"}
