When the large boxes arrived filled with finger puppets, vibrant paints, a felt board with felt characters, and beautiful mentor books, my students were absolutely thrilled. Their eyes lit up, and there was an immediate chorus of \"¡Mira!\" and \"Wow!\" as they reached for the puppets and colorful books. For 6-year-olds, having brand-new, tactile materials makes them feel incredibly valued and excited to learn.\r\n\r\nWe are already using these resources daily to bring our stories to life. A specific moment that stands out happened last week during our morning reading circle. While reading one of our new mentor books, I used the felt board and characters to visually map out the story. The children were completely captivated. Afterwards, they eagerly took turns using the finger puppets to retell the story. In addition, students are using their imaginations to create original stories.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, our next steps involve a creative storytelling and literacy unit. The students will use the paints to create their own story backdrops, and we will use the finger puppets and felt board characters to help them invent and act out their own original tales.
