I orginally had planned for the after school Rock Club to be only 12 students. However, we had a 22 students sign up and more wanting to join. Due to the amount of materials I had, I could only let five more in. I am hoping to do this club again in the Fall. \r\n\r\nThe idea for an after school rock club came out of seeing how my students gravitated towards my rock collection in my office. My rocks are always one of the first things kids want to hold and look at when we are talking. I also bring rocks in my baggie of sensory items when I am working with students around the school. In addition, my own children love rocks and we have done everything from mining rocks and breaking geodes to tumbling rocks and holding actual fossils. My hope with this club was to give students at my school the opportunity to be able to have these experience with rocks and minerals\r\n\r\nThe Rock Club spanned six weeks and included a variety of hands-on-activities. We played rock identification Bingo the first week and learned about the different types of rocks.. The second week we made epsom salt crystals and learned about how different types of crystals forms. The third week each child got to break their own geode and take home their treasure. The fourth week we sifted to sand and learned to identify a variety of rocks and gemstones. The fifth week each child mined their our own mystery gemstones. Finally, the sixth week students learned about the many ways gems are used and they were able to make their own gemstone jewelry. Every week students were enthusiastic to learn and participate in activities. They were all very sad at our last class, but each one of them were present with a \"Future Geologist\" award to encourage them to keep exploring the world of rocks and gems.","fullyFundedDate":1739217385561,"projectUrl":"project/we-all-rock-using-rocks-minerals-to-b/9094073/","projectTitle":"We All Rock! Students who used to struggle with holding a pencil correctly are now naturally developing a better grip while using their tablets-- a highly preferred activity. Since the styluses only work when held properly, kids are building the hand strength and coordination they need for writing—without even realizing it!\r\n\r\nI have noticed that students are more confident and comfortable when it comes to handwriting tasks. Instead of getting frustrated, they're excited to practice their skills, and we're already seeing improvements in their fine motor control. I am writing to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support of our social skills game-based resilience curriculum. Your contribution has enabled us to create an innovative program that not only fosters essential social skills among our students but also equips them with the resilience needed to navigate the complexities of their lives. Your belief in our mission has made a significant impact on our community.\r\n\r\nThe curriculum we have developed integrates engaging games that promote collaboration, communication, and critical thinking. Through these activities, students learn to express their emotions, develop empathy, and build healthy relationships with their peers. The incorporation of specific tools within the curriculum and interactive problem-solving exercises has proven effective in helping students understand and practice appropriate social interactions. These tools encourage students to reflect on their behavior, recognize social cues, and respond appropriately in various situations. The positive feedback we have received from both students and educators highlights the effectiveness of this approach in enhancing social interactions and boosting self-confidence among our learners. Your support has been instrumental in making this possible.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the games included in our curriculum serve as valuable platforms for students to experience and work through disappointments in a safe and structured environment. By facing challenges within the context of play, students learn to manage their emotions, develop strategies for coping with setbacks, and understand that failure is often a stepping stone to success. This process not only builds resilience but also reinforces the idea that it's okay to stumble and that perseverance is key to overcoming obstacles. Your generous funding has allowed us to create these impactful experiences that prepare our students to handle life's challenges with grace and determination.\r\n\r\nFurthermore, the resilience aspect of the curriculum is designed to help students cope with challenges and setbacks, fostering a growth mindset that will serve them well throughout their lives. By incorporating resilience-building strategies, we are empowering our students to face adversity with courage and determination. This initiative would not have been feasible without your generous funding, and we are truly grateful for your commitment to the well-being of our youth.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your generous support. Your investment in our students' futures is invaluable, and we look forward to sharing the successes of this program with you. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of our students, helping them to develop the skills they need to thrive both academically and personally.","fullyFundedDate":1739375887266,"projectUrl":"project/game-based-learning-for-small-group-sel/9091441/","projectTitle":"Game Based Learning for Small Group SEL","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Snook","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9280223"},{"teacherId":9825109,"projectId":9071131,"letterContent":"The toys we purchased with this project have completely transformed the students' engagement. Since incorporating cause-and-effect toys into our Life Skills classroom, we have observed growth in our students' cognitive and motor development. The immediate and clear feedback from these toys—the movement, the sounds—has helped them grasp the fundamental concept of cause and effect, an essential skill for independence. Many students who previously struggled with engagement are now actively participating in activities, demonstrating improved focus, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.\r\n\r\nBeyond individual development, these toys have fostered greater social interaction within our classroom. Students are learning to take turns, share experiences together, and express their preferences more effectively. For nonverbal or minimally verbal students, the toys have become an essential tool for communication, allowing them to make choices and respond in ways that were previously difficult. This has led to increased confidence, more meaningful interactions with peers and teachers, and an overall more dynamic learning environment.","fullyFundedDate":1738015984035,"projectUrl":"project/cause-and-effect-toys-for-life-skills/9071131/","projectTitle":"Cause and Effect Toys for Life Skills","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sarah","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9825109"},{"teacherId":9280223,"projectId":8977352,"letterContent":"Thank you Donors for your support. Your support has meant the world to us!\r\n\r\nThanks to your kindness, we can enhance our crafting programs and truly inspire creativity among our students. We're so excited to see all the wonderful projects that will come to life with the materials you provided. It's incredible to think about how these resources will allow our students to express themselves and develop new skills.\r\n\r\nWhat's even more special is how the knitting and crocheting club is helping students connect with one another and build teamwork. As they collaborate on projects, they're learning to communicate, share ideas, and support each other. It's heartwarming to see friendships blossom and social skills grow in such a nurturing environment, all while enjoying the art of crafting together.\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting my students.
