The podcasting materials provided through this project have transformed our media center into a space where students can create, communicate, collaborate, and share their ideas in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nThese resources have allowed me to provide students with learning experiences that go beyond traditional reading and writing assignments. Students can practice speaking and listening skills, develop interview questions, write scripts, research topics, collaborate with their peers, and use technology to produce their own content. Most importantly, podcasting gives students an authentic audience and helps them see that their ideas, experiences, and perspectives are worth sharing.\r\n\r\nThe materials have also helped me expand what our school library can offer. Our media center is not just a place to check out books—it is becoming a place where students can read, discover, create, and find their voice. Students who may not always feel comfortable speaking in a traditional classroom setting now have another avenue to express themselves and build confidence.\r\n\r\nThank you to the DonorsChoose Community for believing in our students and helping us create opportunities for them to tell their stories. These Lit Boxes were designed to remind students that, no matter where they are in life, they have the ability to grow, learn, and bloom.\r\n\r\nBecause of the materials provided through this project, I was able to create a literacy experience that went beyond simply handing students a book. Each Lit Box combined reading with thoughtful items and activities that encouraged students to slow down, reflect, and make positive connections between literature and their own lives. The excitement surrounding the boxes also helped me reach students who may not always see themselves as readers and gave me another way to build relationships and promote a culture of reading in our school.\r\n\r\nAs a high school librarian, one of my goals is to make our library a place where students feel that they belong. This project allowed me to show students that literacy can be personal, relevant, engaging, and joyful. Seeing their excitement as they received their Lit Boxes was a wonderful reminder that sometimes a creative approach is all it takes to spark a student's interest in reading.\r\n\r\nThank you to The DonorsChoose Community for investing in my students and helping me create experiences that encourage them to read, discover, grow, and—most importantly—bloom where they're planted. They can read the nominated titles, discuss and recommend books to their peers, and ultimately have a voice in choosing the books they believe deserve recognition.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped me continue building a school library where students feel that their interests and opinions matter.
