The new books have opened doors for students to practice essential skills like identifying themes, comparing characters, making predictions, and learning how to support their thinking with text evidence. These lessons not only build stronger readers but also help students develop critical thinking they can use across subjects.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading time is full of energy and engagement. Students gather with their books during independent reading, small groups, and read-alouds, often leaning in to share a surprising detail or to ask a thoughtful question. We've seen students develop the stamina to read for longer stretches, the confidence to try more challenging texts, and the joy of discussing stories with their peers.\r\n\r\nSome of the most heartwarming moments have been seeing particular students light up with these new books. One student who had struggled to find stories that captured her interest now rushes to grab her favorite series the moment reading time begins. Another student, who used to hesitate when reading aloud, has been practicing with a nonfiction book he's passionate about and proudly volunteers to share facts with the class. These small moments show us that your support is helping transform reluctant readers into eager learners.","fullyFundedDate":1755521964691,"projectUrl":"project/reading-rockets/9583787/","projectTitle":"Reading Rockets","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dickinson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10173354_orig.jpg?crop=1244,1244,x0,y211&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755061935586","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10173354"},{"teacherId":8271658,"projectId":8380063,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your wonderful contribution to our classroom. We are always appreciative when we are able to utilize new materials at the start of the school year. The headphones we requested through this project allowed us to use our computers efficiently and with minimal noise. At our school, we use a program called iReady to help improve our skills in reading and math. The program is interactive and allows students to practice through lessons and assessments to increase their academic growth. Having the headphones gave students the opportunity to focus on their own work during lessons and assessments.\r\n\r\nThis technology, donated by you, really helped the students who struggle with attention, as well as helping students who are learning English as a second or third language. Students could focus on their work with out having to deal with ambient noise. Your donations were truly appreciated.","fullyFundedDate":1715198299387,"projectUrl":"project/get-ready-to-listen/8380063/","projectTitle":"Get Ready to Listen!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Michel-Alvarez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8271658"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_37672","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":433,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":69,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"21.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":62.5,"schoolId":37672,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Hamilton Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Hamilton Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-diego-unified-school-district/hamilton-elementary-school/37672"}
