My students love having a diverse array of creative mediums at their fingertips, and their faces lit up the moment they saw the vibrant colors and quality supplies ready for use.\r\n\r\n\r\nWe are currently putting these wonderful new art resources to work in collaborative group projects designed to master key science TEKS. Instead of traditional worksheets, my students are using visual arts as a powerful tool to model and describe complex scientific concepts.\r\n\r\nWorking in small groups, students use the paints and markers to illustrate abstract scientific processes, transforming complex ideas into clear, colorful models.\r\n\r\n The variety of markers and brushes allows multiple students to contribute simultaneously to large poster projects, fostering teamwork, communication, and shared ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nHaving professional-grade art supplies elevates the assignment, motivating students to take pride in their detailed diagrams and creative presentations.\r\n\r\nBuilding on the success of these art-integrated projects, our next steps involve taking these visual models a step further. Student groups will use their finished paintings and diagrams to present their scientific findings to the rest of the class, building essential communication and public speaking skills while solidifying their mastery of the TEKS.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for investing in our classroom and giving my students the creative tools they need to visualize, explore, and succeed!","fullyFundedDate":1786542202152,"projectUrl":"project/bring-science-to-life-art-materials-for/10385747/","projectTitle":"Bring Science to Life: Art Materials for STEM Scholars","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. R.Rivera","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6021611_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1719711752790","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/regina-rivera"},{"teacherId":6021611,"projectId":9854749,"letterContent":"The new resources in rewarding hard work and effort to my students during their exam review, during Saturday school makeup days, review days and just awesome behavior is helping out so much. Their behavior has improved greatly by giving them behavior goals, and rewarding their hard work. \r\nMy students were so excited to see that my class was rewarding hard work and great behavior. They are able to earn candies, snacks and bracelet materials where they can create their own jewelry at home or when they are done early with their work. They are participating and very focused in their assessments. I also include giving them goals to meet to be able to do better, and not worse. The soft light covers immediately changed the atmosphere of the room. The reduced glare has created a more comfortable environment where students can fully engage without distraction.\r\n\r\nThe colored pencils and highlighters have become an essential part of our daily literacy routines. Students use them to color-code text evidence, highlight key details, identify text structures, and organize their ideas during reading and writing activities. These tools have made abstract literacy skills more concrete, especially for visual learners, and have increased student confidence and engagement.\r\n\r\nBecause of our donors' generosity, students now have a classroom environment that supports both their academic and emotional needs. Next, students will continue using these materials as we deepen our work with informational texts and written responses, building strong habits for analyzing, annotating, and organizing ideas.
