My position was not funded this year. I say this because I cannot provide you with any pictures or anecdotes about the use of the books because they were purchased in May and I did not get to use them because there was no more funding for part-timers by mid May.\r\n\r\nBut do not lose heart a full-time educator with a passion for the Library Media Center has been tasked to continue the work there this new academic year. She is aware of the books that were purchased and was eager to process them so that they could get into the hands of the students. She actually is going to use Donors Choose to continue improving the collection and services of the Greynolds Park Library Media Center.\r\n\r\nI want to thank you for the generosity that was shown to Greynolds Park by your donations to my grant. It bought books that will delight the hearts of the primary students and stimulate the minds of the intermediate ones.","fullyFundedDate":1746787427050,"projectUrl":"project/dive-in-stories-galore/9249114/","projectTitle":"Dive In - Stories Galore","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Haxton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8210399"},{"teacherId":8210399,"projectId":9099226,"letterContent":"Though the need for supplies may seem like a minor or unnecessary need for a Library Media Center, it truly is the little things that help to make the LMC operate smoother for the students and me. \r\n\r\nWithout the book holders for shelving, books would fall over and create a mess and make it difficult for students to easily see the titles and call numbers of the books. The Biography section bled one profile into another without demarcation which made it difficult for the students to find the biographies of interest. The alphabetical dividers have streamlined the process for them as well as making it infinitely easier for me to shelve the books. The storage bin keeps my supplies together to find easily and safe from \"borrowing\".\r\n\r\nOur humble school does not have robust funds for such minor things and it is a blessing to have donors who fill in the gap even for the very much needed \"little things\".","fullyFundedDate":1739372629666,"projectUrl":"project/its-the-little-things-that-count/9099226/","projectTitle":"It's the Little Things that Count","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Haxton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8210399"},{"teacherId":8210399,"projectId":8763980,"letterContent":"The supplies provided are helpful in several ways. I use them either daily or weekly. The book stands promote new books. The students are excited to see the displays of books that would have been unknown to them if they could not be fully displayed upon the the shelving throughout the Library Media Center. \r\n\r\nMy tools are now easily organized in my desk drawers because of the dividers and containers instead of being in a jumbled mess. One of the tools that I use is the Xacto knife which is used in the weeding process. Weeding of old and damaged books is an essential practice of library management. The file cabinet also allows me to keep supplies that would usually \"walk away\" from my desk safe and secure.\r\n\r\nLastly, one of the activities during story time uses the dry erase markers, erasers, and dry erase board. They take the reading from a passive activity to an interactive one. One story was about missing rhyming pairs and the students eagerly used their tools to provide the missing words. Our school is grateful for such kindness and generosity which enhances the love of literature and promotes literacy in our school.","fullyFundedDate":1735014256995,"projectUrl":"project/beyond-books-making-magic-in-the-lmc/8763980/","projectTitle":"Beyond Books: Making Magic in the LMC","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Haxton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8210399"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_45629","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":532,"numTeachers":48,"percentFrplEligible":62,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":25,"percentWhite":6,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":60,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":63.0,"schoolId":45629,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Greynolds Park Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Greynolds Park Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/miami-dade-county-public-schools/greynolds-park-elementary-school/45629"}
