Many of our younger students are naturally shy, but having access to professional-quality sound equipment has helped them build confidence and enthusiasm while performing in front of others. The technology has also helped students stay engaged during lessons because they can hear music, instructions, and each other more clearly. Watching students light up when they hear their voices amplified has been such a joyful experience, especially for those who are discovering a love for music and performance for the very first time.\r\n\r\nYour donation will continue to make a lasting impact during some of our most meaningful end-of-year celebrations, including the kindergarten reading celebration ceremony and the 2nd grade graduation performance. With the new dictionaries, thesauruses, and writing journals, students are learning important skills that strong readers and writers use every day. They are practicing how to look up unfamiliar words, discover synonyms to make their writing more interesting, and check spellings independently. During our writing time, students now use their journals to plan stories, write drafts, and revise their work using the dictionaries and thesauruses as helpful tools. These resources are helping students understand that authors carefully choose words and continue improving their writing.\r\n\r\nReading and writing in our classroom is active, collaborative, and creative. Students spend time reading independently, reading with partners, and listening to stories together as a class. We talk about characters, settings, and new vocabulary we discover in our books. The new reference books are often open on desks as students search for better words to describe a character or setting in their stories. It has been wonderful to watch students become more confident as they explore language and see themselves as both readers and writers.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have been especially excited about the new materials. Some love flipping through the thesaurus to find \"fancier\" or more descriptive words to add to their stories, while others proudly use the dictionary to check spellings on their own. One student recently shared that using the thesaurus helped them change a simple word like \"big\" to \"enormous\" in their story, which made them feel like a real author. Moments like these show how much students are enjoying the tools and taking pride in their writing.
