I am a Reading Interventionist and was asked to help set up a library for our school. My school did not have a library and had very few books. Little by little we have asked for donations. I decided to ask Donors Choose to help and the fact that my project was funded is so wonderful. The books that were donated have really helped to make our library grow. The scholars love coming to the library and have loved checking out books. Our library is still small, but we have enough books for our scholars to come in and check out one book for two weeks. For many students, this is the first time they've checked out a book at a library. It is so fun to see their joy and excitement when they come in.\r\n\r\nI chose books that would be diverse in nature and that would be relevant to all students. They have loved them and have checked them out continuously. Sometimes they even fight over who's going to check out which book. We have seen a great increase in reading for enjoyment and many students have asked their parents to go out and buy more books to donate to our library. A parent even mentioned that their child was so excited to come to the library, that now they go to the public library once a week. The impact that this donation has made in our school is unprecedented. We are so very grateful and know that this little library, that we have started together, will have an everlasting impact on the future of our scholars here at Great Hearts Arlington.\r\n\r\nI wish there were better words that would truly express the gratitude that I feel when I think of how grateful we are for your donation.
