The clear acrylic bins we have used to transform our library have had a huge impact on our circulation and our students ability to have independence with their book choices.\r\n\r\nBy incorporating front facing browsing boxes our students have been encouraged to browse easily and have independent choice. Children can select books based on their own interests without adult help, which fosters a sense of autonomy and empowerment. Front facing browsing bins also support learning for children who can't yet read. Seeing the cover provides a clear and immediate idea of the book's content, making it easier to choose one they might like. When many books are displayed face-out, it's easier for library staff to help a large number of students find books independently, which is especially useful in our large group settings. \r\n\r\nThrough front facing browsing boxes children are exposed to books they might not have known about otherwise, simply because a cover catches their eye!
