When we finished setting up the room, we did a surprise show for everyone. Several students squealed and there was significant hand-flapping! If you are unfamiliar with autism, these children tend to show happiness and excitement in physical ways like hand-flapping and jumping. Students are able to use this space to de-escalate when needed, and they are also able to \"earn\" time to play with different items in the sensory room! Some students simply enjoy lying on the carpet and watching the galaxy projector, while others enjoy the sand or the sounds. Thank you so much for helping our classroom with this project!
