Recently, I watched a group of students curled up together on the couch, taking turns reading a story aloud and discussing the characters—completely engaged, comfortable, and connected. It truly felt like home.\r\n\r\nThis space has quickly become more than just a place to sit—it's a place where students feel safe, calm, and ready to learn. It's also been especially meaningful for students who need a quiet moment to reset, giving them a supportive environment to regulate and rejoin learning. As we continue our reading and writing work, students will use this space to dive deeper into partner reading, collaborative discussions, and personal storytelling. We have not had the best weather for outdoor activities but sunny days are coming and I know that the table will be put to good use this spring. We just planted seeds this week so I expect that the table will be a place for them to be able to write their observations about the growth of the plants.
