The snacks help ensure that students have the energy they need to stay focused and ready to learn throughout the day. Sometimes students come to school hungry or get hungry before lunchtime, and having these snacks available allows us to take a quick break so everyone can refuel and get back to learning. One memorable moment was during a reading lesson when a student who had been struggling to focus was able to have a quick snack and then successfully complete the activity with their group. It made a big difference in helping them stay engaged.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the snacks, they were so excited and grateful. Many of them immediately said \"thank you\" and were amazed that people cared enough to support our classroom in this way. They were happy to know that if they felt hungry during the day, there would be something available to help them feel better and ready to learn.\r\nAs we continue with our lessons, students are working hard on building their reading, writing, and problem-solving skills. Having snacks available helps keep students comfortable and focused so they can fully participate in these activities. The next steps in our classroom include small group reading instruction and hands-on math practice, and these snacks help make sure every student is ready to do their best work. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity and kindness that made this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1766271825201,"projectUrl":"project/learning-runs-on-healthy-food/9967767/","projectTitle":"Learning Runs on Healthy Food","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Confer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1505635_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1651372011996","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1505635"},{"teacherId":1505635,"projectId":8023035,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom through DonorsChoose! Our new cozy corner bench and ceiling canopy have quickly become a special space for our students. We use this area as a calm and comfortable place where students can read quietly, practice independent work, or take a moment to reset if they are feeling overwhelmed. One of my favorite moments so far was watching a student choose a book, curl up on the bench under the canopy, and proudly read several pages independently. It has truly created a peaceful learning space that encourages focus and confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the cozy corner, their faces lit up with excitement. They were amazed that our classroom had a space that felt so warm and inviting. Many students immediately asked when they could read there or share a book with a friend. The canopy makes the space feel like a little reading hideaway, and the bench gives students a comfortable place to sit and enjoy their books.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our literacy lessons, students will use the cozy corner during independent reading time and small-group activities. They are working on building stamina while reading and practicing retelling stories using key details. This new space helps students stay engaged and excited about reading. We are incredibly grateful to be the recipients of these new resources, and they have already become a meaningful part of our classroom community.\r\n\r\nStudents are using the materials daily during center time in a variety of purposeful ways. They choose to engage with them for extended learning after completing their work, as a calming option when they are feeling upset, and as opportunities to deepen their understanding of concepts we are exploring. I have observed students working both independently and collaboratively—laughing, learning, problem-solving, and playing together. One particularly special moment was watching a small group of students naturally take turns, explain their thinking to one another, and persist through challenges using the materials without adult prompting.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the resources, their excitement was immediate. They were eager, curious, and full of questions. Many students could not wait to explore and asked when they would get to use them. Their enthusiasm quickly turned into focused engagement as they realized these materials were \"just right\" for their learning and interests.\r\n\r\nBy contributing to our project, you gave our students a little glimpse into what it means when someone believes in them. It feels amazing to know that others want to invest in the cultivation of our curiosity and potential. Moving forward, students will continue using these resources to extend current lessons, support social-emotional development, and build independence during centers. We will also use them to encourage collaboration, communication, and problem-solving as students apply what they are learning in new and meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your kindness and belief in our classroom.
