With the addition of these new books, our classroom literature groups expanded their range of voices, genres, and perspectives. The five literature groups—each made up of about six students—were able to explore texts that better matched their reading levels and interests.\r\n\r\nThe inclusion of books featuring diverse characters and storylines made a noticeable difference in student engagement. Many of my students, especially those from marginalized backgrounds, were excited to see themselves reflected in the stories they read. This representation helped build confidence and pride while encouraging deeper discussions about identity, culture, and empathy.\r\n\r\nFor all students, the new selections opened windows into different experiences and worldviews. As they read across genres—from autobiographies and realistic fiction to fantasy and verse—students learned to compare writing styles, analyze themes, and connect literature to real-world issues.\r\n\r\nThe literature groups became lively spaces for collaboration and reflection. Students asked thoughtful questions, drew personal connections, and supported one another in understanding complex ideas. Their reading fluency, comprehension, and critical thinking skills improved noticeably, and their love for reading grew stronger.\r\n\r\nOverall, these materials enriched our classroom library, elevated student voice and inclusion, and deepened students' understanding of both literature and the diverse world around them.","fullyFundedDate":1647572832873,"projectUrl":"project/expanding-our-students-worldview/6226830/","projectTitle":"Expanding Our Students' Worldview!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Frida","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3034912_orig.jpg?crop=1500,1500,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754872696872","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/frida"},{"teacherId":3034912,"projectId":6216465,"letterContent":"This project had a powerful impact on my 4th–6th-grade students in our mixed-age Montessori classroom. Our diverse group of learners, many of whom speak English as a second language, thrived with the new opportunities for exploration, innovation, and hands-on learning that these materials provided.\r\n\r\nThe Robot Crawler Classroom Pack quickly became a favorite. Students built motor-powered robots that walked, raced, and demonstrated principles of motion, friction, and mechanical energy. Through trial and error, they learned to think like engineers—testing designs, solving problems, and celebrating each success. This experience strengthened their perseverance, collaboration, and ability to apply scientific concepts in creative ways.\r\n\r\nThe Mechanical Hand materials helped students explore robotics even further, connecting what they had learned previously to new mechanical challenges. It was rewarding to see their confidence grow as they refined their designs and discussed how robotics connects to real-world technology.\r\n\r\nThe sewing machine and supplies gave students another avenue for practical creativity. They learned how to operate the machine safely, repair seams, and design small projects. For many, it was their first time sewing, and they took great pride in developing a life skill that blended precision, patience, and creativity. The carrying case and organized sewing center made it easier for students to take ownership of their workspace and care for shared materials.\r\n\r\nThe TPT gift card allowed me to update our Command Cards and add new lessons that reinforced problem-solving and critical thinking skills. These updated resources supported differentiated learning and helped keep our classroom activities fresh and relevant.\r\n\r\nThe wireless voice amplifier and headset made presentations more engaging and accessible—especially while wearing masks. Students loved using it to share their projects and practice public speaking skills, and it helped them project their voices with confidence.\r\n\r\nOverall, this project deepened my students' understanding of science, engineering, and design. It gave them tools to experiment, create, and communicate more effectively, and it inspired a stronger sense of curiosity and capability that will serve them well beyond the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1644877177728,"projectUrl":"project/inspiring-young-engineers-and-future-des/6216465/","projectTitle":"Inspiring Young Engineers and Future Designers!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Frida","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3034912_orig.jpg?crop=1500,1500,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754872696872","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/frida"},{"teacherId":3034912,"projectId":6014965,"letterContent":"This project had a lasting impact on my 4th–6th-grade students and the way they approached learning.
