Every student has their own bag that is filled with multiple mediums for them to practice writing their names. The kids enjoy having control in deciding how they practice their name and having the option to do it in more than one way Some of the favorite options are building their names with Play-Doh and the small doodle boards. \r\nThe students are becoming more independent in using these toolkits on their own and many are approaching mastering writing their names. We have put the field kits to good use. The students are using their backpacks to hold all their items as we walk through the woods and discover nature. They especially love the magnifying glasses and their special notebooks. On the last Forest day trip I noticed almost all of the students had their magnifying glasses out as we hiked and they used them to look closer at plants and trees. They always write in their journals during and after the trip. I am constantly reminding them to not do this on the bus ride home, but no matter what I say some students just cant stop writing and drawing what they saw. I can't really get upset about that!! \r\nWhen we first got our field kits and they were able to explore and look at all the items they were so grateful. They could not believe that they were going to get to keep them after we are done with all our trips. We have one more trip left for this year and we are going to dissect owl pellets. The magnifying glasses and journals will come in handy as they study the bones and record their findings. \r\nThank you again for your help in creating a memorable First grade year for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1738895480704,"projectUrl":"project/into-the-forest-we-go-to-learn/9051819/","projectTitle":"Into the Forest we go to Learn!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Christian","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3571493_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1533417279358","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-christian242"},{"teacherId":9541384,"projectId":8836820,"letterContent":"First of all, I want to thank you immensely for your generous donations to this project. Providing my students with quality literature is extremely important to me and full funding of this project has meant that I can add a new collection of high quality written literature to my curriculum.\r\n\r\nThrough these books, I am able to put together lessons and materials that combine music with the written word. I can share stories and life experiences with the students in a more interesting fashion than just merely speaking about these musical topics in class. I also now have a great resource for days when I may not be in the classroom. The books allow even a non-musical sub an opportunity to bring musical concepts and ideas to the students when I cannot be there.\r\n\r\nThank you again.
