Through these stories, my students are learning letter recognition, print awareness, sequencing, making predictions, retelling stories, identifying characters and settings, and expanding their vocabulary. Books like Chicka Chicka Boom Boom help reinforce alphabet knowledge, while Elephant & Piggie stories encourage expressive reading, friendship, and problem-solving. \r\n\r\nReading is one of the most important parts of my students' day. We gather together for interactive read-alouds where students ask questions, make predictions, act out parts of the story, and discuss the characters' feelings and actions. The giant magnetic lined paper and magnetic letters have made these lessons even more engaging by allowing us to practice letter formation, build words together, and connect reading with writing in a hands-on way. My students especially love revisiting favorite stories during independent reading and literacy centers, where they enthusiastically retell familiar books using the pictures and repeated text.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were initially hesitant to participate during story time became some of my most enthusiastic readers. The repetitive language in the books gave them the confidence to join in, while seasonal favorites like How to Catch a Gingerbread Man, The Gingerbread Girl, The Leaf Thief, and Bear Can't Sleep kept them excited and eager to learn throughout the year. These books helped foster a genuine love of reading in my classroom, and I am incredibly grateful to our donors for providing resources that will last me many, many years.","fullyFundedDate":1773198765467,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-a-love-for-reading/10131345/","projectTitle":"Fueling a Love for Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9707519_orig.jpg?crop=4284,4284,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1784806123887","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9707519"},{"teacherId":9707519,"projectId":10067419,"letterContent":"As soon as we received the liquid glue, we began incorporating arts and crafts into our classroom every week. My students quickly adjusted to using liquid glue with q-tips instead of glue sticks, making projects much easier and FASTER to complete. They were able to finish their work more efficiently and were excited to take their creations home to share with their families.\r\n\r\nReceiving individual art palettes and paintbrushes sized just for my students made art time even more special. They were thrilled to have their own painting supplies, and they especially enjoyed using them to create artwork for our Open House. It was wonderful to see them proudly share their paintings with their parents.\r\n\r\nI was also incredibly proud of how responsible my students were with their classroom materials. They took great care of their crayons, and because so few were broken, I'll be able to reuse many of them this school year. Thank you so much for your generosity and for helping make these meaningful learning experiences possible!","fullyFundedDate":1775681038493,"projectUrl":"project/glue-q-tips-and-crayon-creations/10067419/","projectTitle":"Glue, Q-Tips, and Crayon Creations","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9707519_orig.jpg?crop=4284,4284,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1784806123887","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9707519"},{"teacherId":9707519,"projectId":10025591,"letterContent":"Before receiving these supplies, my classroom looked completely different. I wish I had taken before-and-after pictures to show the transformation. My shelves were nearly empty, and now they are filled with the materials my students need to learn and grow. It brings me so much joy to organize everything and plan where each item will go. I truly can't thank you enough. Because these materials can be reused year after year, I feel much more prepared and confident going into this school year and future ones.\r\nThe pocket chairs have made a tremendous difference in my classroom. They help my students recognize their names, build independence, and develop responsibility by taking care of their own materials. The new scissors have also been a huge improvement. At the beginning of the school year, we only had plastic scissors, which wore out quickly. Many students struggled with cutting for months because they simply didn't have tools that worked well.\r\nI also have an aide in my TK classroom who often found it difficult to assist because she didn't have her own stapler or scissors. Receiving an extra stapler was incredibly exciting for us because we no longer have to borrow supplies from our colleagues. Having the right tools readily available has made our classroom more efficient and has allowed us to better support our students every day.\r\n\r\nThank you for your help with my materials. I could not have afforded this all without you.","fullyFundedDate":1770846640710,"projectUrl":"project/teacher-survival-tools/10025591/","projectTitle":"Teacher Survival Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9707519_orig.jpg?crop=4284,4284,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1784806123887","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9707519"},{"teacherId":9707519,"projectId":9734806,"letterContent":"My students use their nap mats almost every day during nap and rest time. They have helped create a calm and cozy space where students can relax their bodies. Having their own mats has made nap time smoother and more predictable, which is very important for our young learners as they are still learning classroom routines.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the nap mats, they were so excited! They loved having their own special spot and were eager to lay them out. Many students felt proud and safe knowing they had a mat just for them, which helped them settle more easily and feel comfortable during nap time. \r\n\r\nThank you Amazon!","fullyFundedDate":1758636621971,"projectUrl":"project/creating-cozy-corners-for-resting-time-i/9734806/","projectTitle":"Creating Cozy Corners for Resting Time Inside Our Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9707519_orig.jpg?crop=4284,4284,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1784806123887","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9707519"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_94257","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":328,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":95,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":72.3,"schoolId":94257,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Global Education Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Global Education Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/global-education-academy/94257"}
