Some of my students have been learning English for several years, while others are just beginning their journey. Many of our newest learners are kindergarten students who have spent their whole lives speaking Spanish at home and are now suddenly trying to navigate school in a language they don't fully understand yet. That's a big challenge for a five-year-old.\r\n\r\nThe books you provided have been one of the most exciting parts of this project. My students are always hungry for more things to read, and these books have given them opportunities to practice English in a way that feels fun instead of intimidating. As they read, they are building vocabulary, improving comprehension, making connections between languages, and developing confidence as readers. Just as importantly, they're discovering that reading can be enjoyable, even when they're still learning the language.\r\n\r\nThe sensory tools, growing kits, and posters have been wonderful additions as well. Language learning is easier when students can connect words to real experiences. Whether they're exploring something hands-on, observing plants grow, or interacting with visual supports around the room, they're getting opportunities to practice English in meaningful and memorable ways.\r\n\r\nOne thing I wish every donor could see is how hard these kids work. Learning a new language takes courage. Every day, my students walk into classrooms where they are constantly stretching themselves, making mistakes, trying again, and refusing to give up. Your generosity has helped make that process a little less frustrating and a lot more fun.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in them. Your support has made a real difference.","fullyFundedDate":1778005995377,"projectUrl":"project/books-for-bilingual-learners/10235218/","projectTitle":"Books for Bilingual Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Arbon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp6086392_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1543250874745","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6086392"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_52523","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":129,"numTeachers":12,"percentFrplEligible":53,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":56,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":41,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"10.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":42.0,"schoolId":52523,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Glenns Ferry High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Glenns Ferry High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/idaho/glenns-ferry-joint-school-district-192/glenns-ferry-high-school/52523"}
