Our students are engaging in rich, hands-on learning experiences that bring joy, curiosity, and purpose.\r\n\r\nWith access to these games and materials, students are actively strengthening the cognitive, social, and emotional skills that support lifelong learning. We have already seen students demonstrate stronger problem-solving abilities, more thoughtful collaboration, and increased confidence as they take on new challenges. Students are now regularly practicing essential executive functioning skills such as planning, organizing, and regulating their emotions and behaviors. These materials have also given them daily opportunities to build metacognitive skills as they reflect on their thinking, rethink strategies, and adjust their approaches. As they play, we see students anticipating outcomes, analyzing multiple solutions, and revising their plans—practices that directly support cognitive flexibility and working memory, two foundational skills for academic success.\r\n\r\nI want to thank you again for all of your support in providing my diverse groups of underserved students with resources to foster purposeful play! Thank to your donation, our students have the essential supplies they need to learn. While the materials may seem basic--things like whiteboard markers, sticky notes, folders, paper, and tape--they are the very tools we need to succeed.\r\n\r\nFor example, the whiteboard markers and dry erase circles get used daily! Students use them to actively work out problems, share their thinking, and collaborate with peers. This hands-on approach encourages participation and shared discussion leading to deeper understanding of the content and communication.\r\n\r\nThe folders, and journals we created from card stock and notebook paper, are vital places where students store thinking for future use, notes, and are ways to share with families and others the important ideas, reflections, and questions.\r\n\r\nThe sticky notes are an invaluable resource for annotating novels and other texts. As we read, students mark important ideas, questions and reflections in the margins helping students engage with the text in a more useful and meaningful way.\r\n\r\nYour thoughtful donation has made a tangible difference in our classroom, and we can't thank you enough for helping provide these resources. The snacks you helped provide were more than just a treat—they brought real joy and comfort to my students and helped set the tone for better learning each day!\r\n\r\nLast year, many of my students weren't able to bring snacks from home, and it was always a hard moment when snack time came around. You could see the disappointment on their faces, and as a teacher, it was heartbreaking not to have enough to go around. With your help, that changed completely. The day the snacks arrived, the kids were so excited! They asked, \"Wow, who bought all this?\" and I did my best to explain DonorsChoose and how kind people like you made it happen. I think they kind of got it—but what they definitely understood was that someone cared about them.\r\n\r\nHaving snacks in the classroom relieved an extra layer of stress—for them and for me. There's no direct lesson I can point to where snacks changed the outcome, but I absolutely saw a difference in their mood, energy, and engagement after snack time. They were more focused, more cheerful, and more ready to learn.\r\n\r\nAs we moved into the school year, we were building on that positive energy with lessons that require teamwork, focus, and creativity—and I know that being well-fed and feeling cared for plays a big role in their success.
