At first, they were surprised to know that we could use play-doh to learn about music. Now, they frequently ask for the play-doh station.\r\n\r\nThe play-doh has encouraged my special needs students to become more outgoing and vocal in class. They use dough cutters in the shape of music symbols to create tangible examples of what the other students are drawing on the board. All of the students are now more likely to work alongside each other as one class, instead of two separate classes that have been integrated for a 55-minute music class. \r\n\r\nWe will continue to use the play-doh to create rhythmic patterns. Soon, we are going to add yarn to create a music staff on the floor. The students will add their play-doh rhythms to the staff as we begin to learn to read music. \r\n\r\nAgain, thank you for your generosity and kindness. My students absolutely love using play-doh to learn about music.","fullyFundedDate":1757423981963,"projectUrl":"project/adaptable-needs-for-elementary-music-cla/9478468/","projectTitle":"Adaptable Needs for Elementary Music Class","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Toepoel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10069735"},{"teacherId":10069735,"projectId":9444423,"letterContent":"Our elementary musicians have been excitedly using the new instruments and music resources in every class! One of my favorite projects so far has been using the plushies to teach self-contained movement to the preschool classes. They love taking care of their music buddies! The new plushies and rhythm sticks have allowed every child to take part—no one is left waiting for a turn!\r\n\r\nThe students can't stop saying \"thank you\" and are amazed that people they have never met cared enough to help their music class. A student will occasionally shout out to the air, \"Gracias, people!\" when using a new resource. It's both cute and heartwarming.\r\n\r\nStudents are composing individual and small-group rhythm patterns using the rhythm sticks. They leave a rhythm \"message\" for the next class to perform, trying to make each message more challenging for the next grade. Your support made this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1752586467450,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-music-class/9444423/","projectTitle":"Building a Music Class!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Toepoel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10069735"},{"teacherId":10069735,"projectId":9464972,"letterContent":"On behalf of Genoa Elementary, I want to extend my deepest gratitude for your incredible generosity in providing us with storage bins, rhythmic instruments, and instructional tools.
