These resources have had an incredible impact on our classroom environment and my students' ability to stay focused, motivated, and engaged throughout the day.\r\n\r\nThe snacks have been especially helpful for keeping students energized and ready to learn. Many of my students come to class hungry, and having access to snacks has helped them concentrate better and approach lessons with a positive mindset. The thinking putty has also become a favorite—students use it during independent work and review sessions to help calm their nerves and focus their thoughts. It's been amazing to see how such a simple tool can reduce stress and support learning.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the snacks and putty, their faces lit up. One of our math teachers asked students to work in groups to conduct a \"classroom scavenger hunt,\" and she used the candy as prizes. I shared the pencils with a science teacher who was very grateful to have them for his students. \r\n\r\nI put some of the stickers on a cart in the hallway, thinking a few students might pick up one or two during passing time. They talk about them daily and if I forget to turn one of them on, they call me out on it or just go and turn it on for themselves. We just recently talking about plate tectonics, where the driving force is the convection cell in the mantle. The lava lamps played an essential piece to me reminding my students on how density/temperature differences is what drives convection. We've created a discreet, welcoming space stocked with a variety of menstrual products for students to access freely. This station has been integrated into our health and wellness initiative, and it's also sparked important classroom discussions about equity, health education, and breaking stigmas around menstruation. In one health class, students engaged in a thoughtful group project where they researched period poverty and created posters to advocate for menstrual equity in schools. The visibility and accessibility of the Flow Forward station have made these conversations feel real, timely, and deeply meaningful.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials and the fully stocked menstruation station, their reactions ranged from surprise to relief to gratitude. One student quietly said, \"I can't believe someone donated this just for us.\" Another student shared that having access to products at school makes them feel less anxious and more focused in class. Several students immediately offered suggestions for organizing and maintaining the space, showing just how much they value having this kind of support in their learning environment.\r\n\r\nNext, students will be expanding their advocacy work by creating informational campaigns for our broader school community. They're planning morning announcements and flyers to promote awareness and destigmatize conversations around menstruation. In collaboration with our school's wellness team, students are also helping design a maintenance plan to keep the Flow Forward station stocked and accessible for everyone. These steps are empowering our students to be leaders in creating a more supportive and inclusive school environment.","fullyFundedDate":1742502249119,"projectUrl":"project/flow-forward-empowering-students-with-e/9162794/","projectTitle":"Flow Forward: Empowering Students with Essential Care","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Harris","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8428417_orig.jpg?crop=408,408,x523,y590&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725975872947","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8428417"},{"teacherId":269348,"projectId":9141620,"letterContent":"My students and I appreciate the funding of this project!
