Most of the supplies will be used next year for my first grade classroom; but I was lucky enough to use some of the items this year. The dry erase boards, markers, and erasers have allowed this year's small groups to be engaged during math to practice facts and play games. Next year, these will be used to practice writing sounds and words. I find using the mini white boards excites the students, and they love that 2 minutes of free draw time they earn if they work hard! The other white boards and magnetic strips will support my teaching of these lessons next year, too!\r\n\r\nNext, the zipper pouches have been amazing for organizing and sorting manipulatives for students to use this year, and will be great for next year, too! Each student can easily grab a bag of items to sort, classify, play with, and they mesh bags are great for easy clean up! The wall clock will be essential next year in giving students clean up time and work time limits, which builds capacity for managing time in upper grades. The clipboards, supply organizers, and clips will assist me in working in small groups with my students, something I am passionate about and I cannot wait to display student work next year!\r\n\r\nI am so excited to return to the classroom, and cannot wait to share all the wonderful supplies and materials with my 25 first graders. The new classroom stools have given us something our small space could not offer before which is a space that works for our students. With the stools, we can now fit more learners around the table at once, allowing us to serve additional students without sacrificing comfort or focus.\r\nBecause the stools take up far less room than traditional chairs, our tiny classroom no longer feels crowded or chaotic. Students can slide in and out smoothly, transition between activities faster, and settle into learning without the constant shuffle of bulky furniture. The room feels lighter, more intentional, more welcoming, and a room that is made for growth.\r\nMostly importantly, these stools support the kind of focused, responsive instruction our students need. When everyone has a seat, when the materials are close, when the space itself stops being an obstacle, students show more engagement. Our work here in this space is stronger overall.\r\nYour gift didn't just provide a seating, it expanded our capacity to reach more kids and created a student-centered learning space. We are deeply grateful for the way your support makes an impact each and every day in our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1757622025050,"projectUrl":"project/every-seat-counts-helping-kids-close-th/9684209/","projectTitle":"Every Seat Counts: Helping Kids Close the Gaps","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jewell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4822759_orig.png?crop=308,308,x6,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1565460332181","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4822759"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_26720","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":468,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":49,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":35,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"15.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.3,"schoolId":26720,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Central Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Central Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/gavin-school-district-37/gavin-central-elementary-school/26720"}
