First graders love to move and wiggle. It's all part of their development which is necessary to grow and learn. Allowing them to use different spaces to learn, listen, and complete their work is giving them the best possible opportunity to grow and learn. I have seen students take a math test using a ball to give them movement to think. I use scoops to allow students to listen to read aloud. That little extra movement keeps them focused. All of these movements are development. I am asking for balls, a rug and desk trays Allowing movement allows students to learn. Seeing their success is what makes it worth it. These different ways to learn allow the least restrictive environment.
