Most people don't realize that teachers stock their classrooms with snacks and supplies that their students need, but are unable to obtain from home. Growing teenagers need nourishment throughout the day to get them going. \r\n\r\nThroughout the day students are able to come to my room between classes to grab a snack from the snackle box. Snacks are also used as rewards for successfully completing assignments and prizes for winning competitions. The kids were so excited when the boxes were delivered. Each class wrote a journal predicting what was in the packages. They guessed everything from Gator Gear to sporting equipment, but never though snacks would be delivered right to our classroom. They were shocked when they opened the boxes to see what was inside. \r\n\r\nAs we move into the 4th marking period the 11th graders are starting work on The Great Gatsby while the 9th grade will be preparing for state testing and to read books from The Odyssey. My hope is to provide students with \"to go\" bags of snacks that will expire at the end of the year and then properly store snacks that will be good through the fall so that next year's group has a head start with the snackle box.","fullyFundedDate":1774027640724,"projectUrl":"project/full-stomachs-mean-more-energy/9936111/","projectTitle":"Full Stomachs Mean More Energy!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Genzano","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4346503_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1495734096481","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4346503"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_81245","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":862,"numTeachers":81,"percentFrplEligible":34,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":64,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"10.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.1,"schoolId":81245,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Gateway Regional High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Gateway Regional High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/gateway-regional-high-school-district/gateway-regional-high-school/81245"}
