My students always start out nervousâmany of them are genuinely scared about dissecting a cow eyeâbut that all changes the moment we begin. This year, we hosted the dissection on Halloween, which made the experience even more memorable. The kids came in wearing their costumes, excited and a little unsure, but as soon as they saw the materials, their curiosity took over.\r\n\r\nBefore the lab, we spent time researching the structure of the cow eye and comparing it to the human eye. This helped the students understand what they were looking for and why the activity matters. When it was finally time to begin, we moved outside to the lunch benches because it does get smelly and messy! Then the students dove right in. Their reactions were priceless: wide-eyed wonder, huge smiles, and proud as they identified each part.\r\n\r\nThis project always becomes one of those \"forever memories\" for them. Color printing signals that the assignment is special or important. Students feel their work is valued, motivating them to \"do their best\" because they expect others to see it in its full, colorful form. Research in educational psychology shows that color improves memory retention. The brain encodes colorful information more effectively than monochrome, helping students recall lessons during tests or discussions.\r\n\r\nStudents are more excited to complete the assignment because the bright visuals make it feel like an interactive activity rather than plain homework.
