The kettle, tea packs, cups, and cup sleeves have helped create a calm, welcoming, and supportive environment for my students. Many of my students come to school carrying stress, exhaustion, and responsibilities from outside of school, so something as simple as a warm cup of tea has made a meaningful difference in helping them feel comfortable, cared for, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThe tea station quickly became a positive part of our classroom community. Students were excited when they first saw the materials, and many shared how much they appreciated having a peaceful space where they could take a moment to reset and refocus. The tea station helped students stay awake, relaxed, and engaged during lessons and while completing assignments, especially during long school days.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, I have been able to create a classroom atmosphere that feels safe, supportive, and encouraging for students. Our next goal is to continue helping students stay focused, complete their coursework, and successfully graduate by June. Many of my students come to school tired after working long hours, taking care of responsibilities at home, or not getting enough sleep. Having access to snacks helped them stay awake, focused, and energized so they could continue working through assignments and participate in class. It also reduced stress and helped students avoid becoming \"hangry,\" which made the classroom environment much calmer and more positive.\r\n\r\nThe snacks also helped strengthen our classroom community and create a safe, welcoming space for students. Sharing food together gave students comfort and helped them feel cared for and supported. My students were genuinely excited and grateful when they saw the materials arrive, and many immediately said they felt motivated to keep working and stay on track in their classes.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, I have been able to better support students academically and emotionally during a very important time of the school year. Now, we have enough copies to give to the students who are working on the project reading \"Parable of the Sower.\" Our class is self-paced, meaning that the students are not all working on the same thing at the same time. That said, many of our students are working on this project right now. They are allowed to bring the books home with them, which is particularly important for our virtual class. On any given day in class, you will see a group of students with \"Parable of the Sower\" in hand, independently reading while they work on their checkpoints. \r\n This project is focused on connecting themes in literature to real-world issue. Students learn to cite strong textual evidence to support theme analysis. True to the meaning of the word \"parable,\" the book is a story comprised of many character lessons dealing with real world problems in a dystopian setting. Many of these real-world problems are relevant to our students' lives. Reading \"Parable of the Sower\" gives them a chance to process their own experiences during the analysis of the literature.","fullyFundedDate":1769886321967,"projectUrl":"project/parable-of-the-sower-classroom-library/10062777/","projectTitle":"Parable of the Sower Classroom Library","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rothstein","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10419578_orig.jpg?crop=1980,1980,x111,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1769449166418","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10419578"},{"teacherId":10312375,"projectId":9829562,"letterContent":"Our new coffee station from DonorsChoose has become an amazing addition to our classroom. Students and I use it every day, not just for coffee but also as a small hangout spot. Because of the coffee station, students who normally don't talk to each other have started having conversations while they wait for their drinks. It has become similar to the \"water cooler\" area you see in offices, where people gather and chat. Some students from other classes even stop by just to get coffee or grab a cup for water, and because of that, I've gotten to know many more students than before. When they first saw the coffee station set up, they were excited and surprised. Many kept saying how \"cool\" it was to have something like this at school. As we continue our classroom lessons and projects, the coffee station helps set a welcoming atmosphere each morning. The next steps for my students include working on our current science activities, and I've noticed they start their work more relaxed and ready to focus after spending a few minutes at the coffee station. It has truly helped build community in our classroom. \r\n\r\nI sincerely want to thank everyone for donating and making this happen for me and my students!
