During Week 3, I assembled the popcorn machine and took it to each classroom so students could see it and learn about its purpose. I introduced our new popcorn machine as \"Poppi,\" and the students immediately loved her! As I visited classrooms, students were excited to meet Poppi and enthusiastically said hello to our new school friend.\r\nWe explained to students that Poppi has an important job: helping us celebrate perfect attendance! Each week, students who have perfect attendance are recognized and receive freshly popped popcorn on Friday as a positive incentive for coming to school every day, arriving on time, and being present for the entire school day.\r\nThe students' excitement showed us that this simple incentive can become something meaningful. Instead of focusing only on missed days, we are creating a positive opportunity to celebrate students for being at school and making attendance a priority. Students now have something fun to look forward to each Friday and a goal they can work toward throughout the week.\r\nThis project directly supports our school-wide SMART goal of reducing chronic absenteeism. We are monitoring attendance data and using positive incentives to encourage students to develop consistent attendance habits.\r\nOur attendance data continues to show encouraging progress. During Week 4, the number of students with an absence, tardy, or check-out decreased from 66 students during Week 4 of the 2025–2026 school year to 42 students during Week 4 of the 2026–2027 school year—a 36.4% reduction.\r\nBy Week 5, we saw another encouraging result. 120 students achieved perfect attendance, while only 32 students had non-perfect attendance. This means approximately 79% of our students achieved perfect attendance during Week 5. We are especially encouraged by this progress because Week 5 marked the second week of our popcorn incentive. While we will continue monitoring the data throughout the year, these early results suggest that combining consistent attendance monitoring with positive recognition is helping motivate students to attend school regularly and develop stronger attendance habits.\r\nOur next step is to continue using Poppi each Friday to celebrate students who achieve perfect attendance while monitoring our attendance data throughout the school year. We hope that this small celebration will help students build the bigger habits of responsibility, perseverance, and commitment to their education.\r\nMost importantly, your generous support has provided more than a popcorn machine. You have helped us create a positive way to celebrate students for showing up, being present, and working toward success. Our students are already exposed to my types of technology, but they are unaware of the work and process it taking to build and design. \r\nThe robotic kit gave some critical thinking and a fun activity for students to do. They had a variety of designs to choose from what they wanted to build. They were so excited with the fact that they were building a robot with solar panels to see how it chooses to move. \r\nI have a few students that chose to use their own time to try and build the robot. Some students came in early and even came in during their recess time to try and complete the design. We used a lot of our materials towards Math and Reading. \r\n My students were surprised and grateful for all the items that we were able to use, especially with the holidays coming up. \r\n My upcoming projects I am wanting to do is STEAM project challenges. They noticed that there were brand new books and wanted to take them home or read, but the impatience of someone reading it and having to wait was not their favorite part. The students like the fact that there are books that they enjoy reading and that catch their interest. \r\n The students enjoyed the notebooks because many are using spiral notebooks and not compositions, and it helped many of our students who needed the following materials for each class subject. They are using the chisel, dry-erasers, and erasers. Each of them has a group caddy that they have these materials in, and they are curious about the new item and weren't sure if they could use it. I had to remind them that it belongs to them. These students don't have many items that they call theirs, and they misplace them here and there, but they know that we have more to cover them throughout the year. \r\n The students haven't been able to start the new essential standards, but I am trying to request more books in my library and be able to get an upgrade for the students. We want to continue to do hands-on projects for our class in all subject areas. The students enjoyed seeing the caddy materials that were given. The students love using the earphones; they use them to help them concentrate when the classroom gets loud. They can plug in and maintain their focus. Each student had their own individual earphones to use daily, and if they passed their assessment, they were able to receive one of the awards that you have given. All the expo markers are used for their individual and group work activities, and the highlighters were great for our writing and reading subject areas. \r\n The students were curious to know if the earphones were something they could use, not only in the classroom but also in other enrichment classes. They are very honest about taking them to other classes if needed. They love the earphones and different highlighter options that are given. The students are taking responsibility within their groups. \r\n The next step that are class is taking is our next essential standards, we want to have STEAM/STEM-based projects. Each STEAM/STEM challenge will have requirements of its own. The students were able to create their own rollercoaster and zipline, and they were able to solve the given problem with their group members.
