Receiving the shipments of materials and opening them up has been like Christmas for my students. I explained to them what was ordered and how those items will be used and they were so excited. They were ready to dive right in!\r\n\r\nMany of my students don't even come to school with a notebook and pencil. So being able to give them school materials that they can use to keep organized and participate in class along with their peers gives them a sense of ownership, responsibility, and dignity. Many of the materials used will be used for STEM based projects in the classroom, both at the end of this year and will carry over into next year. They love to design, create, problem solve, and have fun while learning. Hopefully this prepares them well for what's in store for them in the future!\r\n\r\nLastly, children need motivation to keep trying and not give up. The treasure box items will be used as raffle prizes. Students earn raffle tickets by doing one of three things: being respectful, being thoughtful, and giving effort. These baseline ideas encompass many of the social emotional skills students need to be successful at school, at home, and in their community. \r\n\r\nThank you again for being so thoughtful of our students.
