They developed kitchen safety skills, safe eating and food prep skills. These skills have allowed these young adults to feel \"grown up\" and capable of caring for themselves. It also allows their families greater financial freedom. If they know how to prepare a meal for themselves it allows for parents to go out to work and make a living. Many families with young adults with disabilities suffer financial hardship after they age out of the school system at 22. One parent has to stay home and take care of the young adult. With new skills in cooking and independent living not only can they stay home alone and care for themselves but also allows for the opportunity to employment in the food service industry. \r\n\r\nMy students and I are grateful for your kind and generous gift.
