We read about Anansi the Spider and compared the different versions. The art materials inspired creativity. We made multimedia art inspired by different countries in Africa.\r\n We ended our study of Africa with a performance for our parents. Without them, we wouldn't have been able to purchase our beautiful rug, which has been SO beneficial to students' learning, partner-talking, collaboration & social skills. Each student has their own spot and they are pretty protective of it—ha! Having this rug and a designated space has also allowed my students to learn and respect peoples' personal space. \r\n\r\nThe vibrant colors also make our portable classroom feel less temporary. At the beginning of the year, we were only supposed to be in this room for 2.5 weeks! Well, it's nearly 6 months later and we're still (patiently) waiting for our new room to be ready. It looks like that won't happen until next school year at the earliest. \r\n\r\nAnyways, this rug and the other donations we were able to purchase has really allowed this class to function as a class AND a family.
