Because of your support, my students now have access to colored pens, coloring books, Uno decks, Scrabble, and other hands-on materials that invite them to slow down, talk to each other, and genuinely connect. In a world where screens dominate nearly every moment of their day, these simple activities have created a refreshing space for creativity, laughter, and real conversation.\r\n\r\nThe impact has been immediate and meaningful. I've watched students who rarely interact suddenly collaborate over a tricky Scrabble word, negotiate strategies during a heated round of Uno, and unwind together in Networking sessions at the end of a long week. We had a student suicide which rocked our campus. Having mindful coloring pages helped kids stop and heal in a time of immense pain. \r\n\r\nIn general, these materials have transformed quiet, phone-focused downtime into moments of community-building and joy. Students are learning to be present with one another, to communicate face-to-face, and to enjoy the kind of low-pressure social connection that strengthens classroom relationships.\r\n\r\nYour generosity doesn't just provide supplies—it creates opportunities for belonging. Thank you for believing in the value of connection, creativity, and human interaction. My students and I are truly grateful for your investment in the kind of classroom environment where they feel seen, supported, and connected.","fullyFundedDate":1755734106621,"projectUrl":"project/cell-phone-free-zone/9602447/","projectTitle":"Cell Phone-Free Zone","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hayes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7884013"},{"teacherId":7884013,"projectId":9138668,"letterContent":"By donating money for contemporary novels, my students were able to explore books of interest to them, rather than just be stuck with classics. In doing so, they fully immersed themselves in new countries, new time periods, and new cultures.\r\n\r\nThey were able to host their own book love discussions (where they explored character, setting, motiviation, symbolism, theme, and literary theory). They also had a book museum day where they were tasked with bringing their book to life through a creative display of artifacts (see attached photos).\r\n\r\nMany ranked the Book Museum day as one of their most memorable days in all of high school...that they could bond over books is remarkable.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for supporting my classrom and giving students works they wanted to read and that they enjoyed reading.
