I was amazed at how, after they did the tutorial, they went totally off script. One of my students used the materials to make a perfect representation of gear ratios and then went on to teach other students what that meant. It was fantastic! I love when my students go further and are more creative than I could even imagine. \r\n\r\nWe did a research fair at the end of the year and one of my students chose to research what kind of useful machines he could make with the Spike kit. He was able to make a pencil launcher (so useful ; ) ) and a car that could deliver things from desk to desk. His research station was a huge hit, with visitors pausing there for demos.
