Our new classroom rug has quickly become an essential part of our daily learning routine. We use it multiple times a day for morning circle time, phonics instruction, literacy stations, and collaborative \"turn and talk\" discussions. The rug also provides flexible seating, allowing students to learn in a comfortable, structured environment that supports focus and engagement.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the colorful carpet, they were beyond excited. They immediately noticed the individual spaces and loved having a clearly defined spot that felt like their own. Having personal learning spaces has made a big difference—students are more organized, transitions are smoother, and they can easily identify their discussion partners during collaborative activities. It has truly enhanced both learning and classroom community.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue to meet on the carpet throughout the day for social morning circles, morning and afternoon meetings, and whole-group and small-group instruction. This rug will remain a central part of our classroom, supporting academic learning, social interaction, and a positive learning environment. This year the crayons came in handy because we had just moved into the new school and I had a lot of students that had never used regular crayons.\r\n\r\nEvery 9 weeks, we start fresh with a new set of pencils, crayons and erasers (so, it kind of feels like the first day of school all over again). When the slimmer crayons were introduced, the kids were excited. But we soon realized that those crayons broke more easily. The kids were becoming frustrated with their broken crayons. Well, we took a class vote and they wanted to go back to their large crayons. When the new crayons arrived with our large 16 colors, you would've thought they got free tickets to Disney!\r\n\r\nThey were so excited to see that they had 2 shades of orange, 2 shades blue, 2 shades of green and red. This program has helped to build my students' math skills by allowing them to work at their own level. They are excited everyday for their Happy Numbers time.\r\n\r\nThis program is a great tool to help me accelerate my higher math students and reteach skills to my struggling students. One of the best things about this program is the option for the students to complete the lessons in Spanish. I have three non-English speaking students in my class this year and they get excited to work on Happy Numbers because it is both at their level and their language. This program has allowed them to build their confidence with their math skills and it has transferred into our regular math curriculum. \r\n\r\nThe other great thing about this program is the Happy Letters portion for the kindergarten curriculum. It has allowed my students to review all of their letters and practice building and recognizing CVC words. My students were able to review these skills before their big state test and because of this extra support, 100% of my students showed growth on their end of the year assessments. \r\n\r\nHappy Numbers also allows the teachers to give assessments throughout the year. When the students first log in, they take a placement test. Teachers can then set up a mid-year and end of year check. I have seen huge growth in my students math skills and I believe it has a lot to do with Happy Numbers. It is a fun and engaging program for all learners.
