I want to share what your funding is doing in my school! \r\n\r\nThis year, we started a new transitional program to better help our sixth graders acclimate to middle school. We know for a lot of those students, the transition to middle school is the first big transition in their lives. They come in seeking information, safety, and connection, and if we don't facilitate that in the right way, it can lead to some pretty significant consequences for our students. This year, I started a WEB program -- which stands for \"Where Everybody Belongs\". We selected 65 of our kindest 8th grade applicants, trained them, and made them \"leaders\" of a small group of sixth graders. We let them lead our first day back to school, and it was magical. We will maintain these groups all throughout the year-- having our 8th graders do character education lessons with their sixth graders, give tours to our new students, and continue facilitating mentor relationships. The materials you've provided truly help support this!! \r\n\r\nIn addition to this program and being a school counselor, I am also teaching a leadership class, and sponsor our GSA club. We don't have allotted funds for these things, and your financial support means everything. These supplies are used to help facilitate social-emotional learning, create safety, and generate inclusivity. Maybe a pack of markers doesn't seem like a huge deal... but when they're used by a child engaging in an activity that facilitates meaningful social connection, it can be absolutely life changing.","fullyFundedDate":1786639091490,"projectUrl":"project/middle-school-counselor-zone/10245618/","projectTitle":"Middle School Counselor Zone","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ensor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6492643_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1777588826940","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6492643"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_66162","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":924,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":38,"percentAsian":13,"percentBlack":18,"percentWhite":49,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":9,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"37.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":93.3,"schoolId":66162,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dakota Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dakota Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/rochester-public-schools-isd-535/friedell-middle-school/66162"}
