The addition of new Hispanic Heritage books has made a meaningful impact on our students by providing representation, validation, and a deeper sense of belonging. For many of our students, seeing characters, authors, and stories that reflect their own cultural backgrounds has been both affirming and empowering.\r\n\r\nThis project came about because I felt our library was lacking the representation our Latinx students deserved in our shared space. This project became even more meaningful when it was funded during a very volatile time in our state, our city, and our Fridley community. These books were delivered when a large number of our students were engaged in distance learning due to Operation Metro Surge.
