The way to get their words up is by reading books at their level and then they can take the AR quiz to see their word count. \r\n\r\nCompetition really brings out the best in them! Ever since we have received the classroom books, students are excited they can read NEW books and have a higher word count. One of my students already has 312,131 words. They are now #12 in the whole school. Though we are focusing on word quantity, these activities also help build students' comprehension and reading stamina. \r\n\r\nIt has been great seeing their excitement and love for these books. They especially have been enjoying the Dog Man books. They finish one and quickly grab the next book. And they have been taking great care of them, aligning to our classroom's expectation of being responsible. \r\n\r\nThank you, thank you for helping spark a love for reading.","fullyFundedDate":1764738216628,"projectUrl":"project/books-for-classroom-library/9749907/","projectTitle":"Books for Classroom Library","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Leyva","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10275308"},{"teacherId":9914847,"projectId":9522709,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, my students have been able to experience their learning in a whole new, meaningful way. The HP Sprocket photo printer allows us to instantly capture and print special classroom moments—whether it's mastering a new skill, participating in a holiday celebration, or being recognized at an award ceremony. These photos are more than just pictures; they are powerful tools that help students reflect on their growth, build confidence, and feel proud of their accomplishments. For many of my students, this is their first time seeing their success documented in such a tangible and lasting way.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is seeing themselves celebrated. The moment a photo prints, their faces light up with joy and pride. We display these pictures near our classroom door, creating a welcoming space that tells the story of our learning community to everyone who walks in. This visual celebration not only motivates students to continue trying their best, but also strengthens their sense of belonging. They love pointing out their photos to friends, teachers, and visitors, proudly sharing the moments that matter most to them.\r\n\r\nThis project has been especially meaningful for students who may not have access to printed photos at home. Despite living in a world with smartphones, many of my students do not have personal photos they can hold onto. These printed memories serve as a reminder that their efforts, growth, and joyful moments are seen and valued. At the end of the school year, being able to take these photos home as keepsakes is incredibly special—it gives students something to treasure and share with their families. Printing photos right in our classroom makes learning feel exciting and real for our young learners.\r\n\r\nThe photo printer has quickly become one of the most exciting tools in our room. On spirit days and fun theme days, students love taking pictures of their classmates and seeing them printed right away. They are so proud to hang the photos on our classroom wall, where we can all see and celebrate our friendships, school spirit, and silly smiles. Some of our shy students have really opened up—smiling for the camera and feeling proud when they see their picture displayed.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our kindergarten classroom feels more joyful, connected, and welcoming. Having more Spanish titles has helped increase their word counts and enthusiasm for reading. Not only our third graders in my class are benefiting, but also students from the after school program and fourth and fifth graders who come to our classroom to read. Your kindness has made such a meaningful difference in our classroom!\r\n\r\nThe students were absolutely thrilled to receive their new pencil boxes and pouches. As soon as they arrived, everyone eagerly began transferring their classroom supplies from plastic bags into their new boxes and pouches. It was wonderful to see how excited they were to organize their materials and take pride in their belongings. The colorful pouches were a big hit and brought so much joy to our classroom!\r\n\r\nAlthough the pencil boxes turned out to be a little smaller than I anticipated (a small miscalculation on my part), they've worked out beautifully for students to store extra classroom supplies like crayons, markers, and other personal items. Everything now has a place, and that small sense of order has really helped our classroom feel more structured and cared for.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular, Fernando, has benefited greatly from these supplies. Fernando can sometimes be quite disorganized and often misplaces his materials. Since receiving his new pencil box and pouch, I've noticed a wonderful change—he now takes the time to organize his things and always has his essential supplies ready. He no longer has to search through his desk to find what he needs, and it's clear he feels proud of his new sense of responsibility.\r\n\r\nI also want to thank you for donating the jump ropes. Our classroom has very little P.E. equipment, so having these available has been such a treat! The students were overjoyed to have something fun and active to use during recess and movement breaks. The jump ropes encourage teamwork, coordination, and exercise, and they've brought a lot of laughter and energy to our days. Watching students cheer each other on as they count jumps has been such a heartwarming sight.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has provided my students with tools that support both their learning and their joy. Their eyes lit up when I told them that people they've never even met cared enough about their classroom to help them learn and stay organized. The day our supplies arrived, my students gathered around the boxes, eager to help unpack each item. They were fascinated by how something as simple as glue sticks, colorful labels, and Velcro dots could help us keep our classroom running smoothly and make our learning even more fun.\r\n\r\nWe've already started putting everything to good use. Our new glue sticks have been a huge help during word-building activities — my students love using them to \"stick together\" syllables and form new words. The laminating sheets have allowed us to preserve student artwork and classroom awards so that they can last for years to come. The magnetic and Velcro dots have turned our whiteboard into a dynamic display space for our learning posters and classroom jobs, while the colorful labels and Velcro organizers have made our Chromebook cart a bright and tidy station that my students take great pride in keeping organized. These small tools have made a big difference in creating an environment where students feel ownership and pride in their learning space.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our school year, my students are learning not only academic skills but also responsibility and teamwork. Having these materials has given them opportunities to take on classroom jobs, such as organizing technology, maintaining our learning centers, and helping others keep their materials neat. Each time I see them carefully place their Chromebooks in their labeled slots or proudly hang up a newly laminated piece of work, I'm reminded of the generosity that made this possible.
