I have been able to put permanent genre labels on the fiction books in the library. It is very difficult to recommend new books to students when you have not personally read all the books in the library. The labels make it easier for students to find books they are interested in without having to do trial by error.\r\n\r\n When students first came in once the books were labeled, you could hear the excitement in their voices. They could easily find a new book in the genre they were interested in. They were talking to their friends and directing them to books.\r\n\r\nI would like for the students to become even more engaged with books and step outside of their comfort zone to try new genres. We are planning to begin a genre focused book club and having the labels will make it so much easier for students to make a selection.
