Our next big step is moving from simple number recognition to active problem-solving. Because they have already physically practiced this movement on the stepping stones, they are primed and ready to transfer that knowledge to the number lines on their desks!\r\n\r\nMeanwhile, at our \"Calm Corner,\" the playdough and sensory materials have been vital. Just yesterday, a student was feeling overwhelmed and unable to focus. After five minutes of using the sensory dough to regulate his emotions, he returned to his desk calm, centered, and ready to pick up a dry erase marker to join the lesson.\r\n\r\nYour support has created a space where active learning and emotional well-being go hand in hand. They were particularly excited about the magnetic alphabet maze is a particular favorite that students are always excited to use during our writing learning centers. The letter lacing beads have also been a favorite writing center activity where students practice fine motor skills and sight word recognition by using the letters to spell out sight words. \r\n\r\nThe organizing tubs have also been incredibly useful for making my classroom more efficient. I used about half of them to create grab and go sensory bins for students.
