Today, most children are reading everything on a computer or cell phone. It is my goal to help my students love to read by finding that \"just right\" book that is an appropriate level as well as of interest to them. I appreciate you helping make this goal a possibility through your generous donation.\r\n\r\nMost often, special education students have been turned off from reading because it is too difficult for them. I know I can help my students be more successful and interested in reading if I assist them in locating books that are on their reading levels as well as on their interest levels. I was able to provide books for every student within my classroom. Many of my students' first language is not English. This is why I had a goal this year to provide a diverse selection of books! Within my classroom this year there were more than 5+ spoken languages. \r\n\r\nI am very grateful to have been provided the resources to make my ELA class an inclusive environment for all of my students. One of the ways these books were used was during testing season. It is important that all students have a book to read once they've finished testing, and I was able to provide books for all of my learners! My students were also able to freely read these books. They were used for independent reading, taken home to be read, and used as an extension activity. Thank you again for helping me reach my goals this year!","fullyFundedDate":1726143114747,"projectUrl":"project/reading-through-illustrations-promoting/8456208/","projectTitle":"Reading Through Illustrations: Promoting Literacy for Diverse Scholars","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wills","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9569648_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1718406350589","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9569648"},{"teacherId":304673,"projectId":9064899,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my students' learning. The resources provided have been so helpful! For our last unit, we studied transformations on a graph. We didn't have to locate graph paper and waste multiple pages of paper! My students have used these boards daily since they arrived. \r\n\r\nWhen the manipulatives first arrived, I do not believe my students thought much about them. Now that I have been able to teach using the manipulatives, my students see the value of hands-on learning and are truly understanding concepts.\r\n\r\nAs I continue to learn and teach the 7th and 8th grade math curriculum, I am finding the need for more manipulatives lending to the learning of different concepts.
