By providing hard drive adapters and external hard drives, students are now able to easily share footage, and sound files across different computers—just as college and professional filmmakers do. Students are better able to manage shared assets, and solve problems that have in the past stunted their ability to progress from phase to phase. Headphone splitters allow multiple students to listen to edits and sound mixes at the same time, as well as myself during student conferences, encouraging discussion, peer feedback, and decision-making rather than one student working alone at their screen.\r\n\r\nCamera gimbals, in particular, have opened the door to allow students to create smooth camera movement, whereas prior they only access they had was to our cumbersome shoulder rigs which, while terrific, aren't accessible for all students. Being able to use tools such as these has increased student motivation, confidence, and willingness to experiment; students can now focus on storytelling, composition, sound, and editing—core skills they need to competitively apply to film programs for college.\r\n\r\nThis access has been especially impactful for students who may not have access to technology at home. Students who were previously unprepared, or have always struggled with organization, have stepped up as editors, camera operators, or sound designers because the tools make the work possible and visible. By removing barriers, these resources ensure that students aren't held back by what they lack, rather are empowered to grow based on the knowledge and skills they're acquiring. \r\n\r\nYour support has helped create an equitable, college-like learning environment where every student can fully participate and succeed as a budding filmmaker. Many of us use technology at home, but the ways we use it in school—especially in theatre—may be a bit different. We're excited to share how these laptops are already transforming our learning and creativity.\r\n\r\nThe new technology is helping us learn in ways we simply couldn't before. We now have the tools to write and revise scripts collaboratively, analyze digital recordings of our rehearsals, explore design software for costumes, sets, and lighting, and complete research to deepen our understanding of characters, historical periods, and theatre traditions. These laptops also allow us to work more independently and efficiently, which is especially valuable during group projects and production work.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting things about the new laptops is how they open doors for students with different learning styles. Visual learners are thriving with digital design programs, writers are energized by collaborative script tools, and performers love being able to watch playback and reflect on their progress. Having reliable access to these resources makes us feel more like a professional theatre company than ever before.\r\n\r\nSome students have especially warmed to this technology. A few of our quieter students—who sometimes hesitate to speak up in group discussions—have been contributing much more through shared digital workspaces. Others who struggle with organization or focus are benefiting from the built-in planning tools, calendars, and rehearsal trackers. And some of our tech-savvy students have stepped into leadership roles, helping classmates learn new programs and discover creative possibilities.\r\n\r\nYour support hasn't just provided us with laptops—it has expanded our artistic toolbox, strengthened our collaboration, and made our theatre program more inclusive and accessible for everyone. Thank you for believing in our work and giving us the resources to explore our talents more deeply.","fullyFundedDate":1757438795137,"projectUrl":"project/drama-studio-laptop-cart/9676969/","projectTitle":"Drama Studio Laptop Cart!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Palmeri","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10239254_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x860,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757025189648","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10239254"},{"teacherId":9538773,"projectId":8927808,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your wonderful donations. The students can slice and shred vegetables easier with the electric shredder. All the electrical donated equipment has made a huge impact in my students learning.
