The different toys and educational props inspired the curiosity of each student, bringing out laughter, exploration and sharing amongst the students.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, the toys gave the students an educational distraction, helping each calm down in his or her way. \r\n\r\nI have a table rotation where my aides and I each \"own\" a table with different purpose and activities. Students loved the experience. Each student became curious, grabbed an instrument, satisfied their curiosity and continued experimenting while actually sharing with his or her classmate.\r\n\r\nThe instruments certainly inspired the discovery of sounds. What was originally a five minute activity actually turned into a 15-minute jam session with all of the students contributing to the musical chaos which transformed into something quite amazing. \r\n\r\nAlso, students really enjoyed matching shapes. One student demonstrated his skills to the teachers and class by reading aloud the names of the shapes: diamond, triangle, oval.","fullyFundedDate":1746783016815,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-toys-for-ecse/9049754/","projectTitle":"Sensory Toys For ECSE","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Boyd","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9892221"},{"teacherId":6405143,"projectId":9459364,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping to create a more inclusive and supportive environment in my classroom. As a collaboration class, I work with students who have a range of special needs, including sensory sensitivities. Many of these students struggle with over- or under-stimulation from their environment, such as loud noises or the need to sit still. The tools you've provided, like wobble seats, noise-cancelling earmuffs, and textured stickers, have been invaluable in helping them regulate their sensory needs. These tools not only assist students with sensory sensitivities but also help maintain a calm, focused classroom for all.\r\n\r\nMy students love using the wobble seats to release excess energy and stay focused without disrupting others. The noise-cancelling earmuffs have made a big difference for those sensitive to sound, helping them feel more comfortable during particularly exciting lessons. The textured stickers offer a great outlet for students to self-soothe during tests or classwork. Your support has been crucial in helping my students feel more confident and engaged in the classroom. It's been a safe space, sensory tool, and a cozy space to take a breath, and your contribution is helping our students develop lifelong self-regulation skills and emotional resilience.\r\n\r\nThese calm spaces are more than just a quiet corner—they are a reflection of our belief that every child deserves to feel seen, supported, and empowered. Here's the revised version without that part, while keeping the tone and message you loved:\r\n\r\n⸻\r\n\r\nThe donation of specialized books to my third-grade classroom has made a profound and lasting impact, especially on my students with dyslexia. These thoughtfully chosen books, which feature the Dyslexie font and decodable text, have become powerful tools that are transforming the way my students approach reading. Before the donation, many of my dyslexic students gravitated toward picture books or avoided reading altogether due to frustration and feelings of inadequacy. Now, with access to materials designed specifically to meet their learning needs, they are motivated, excited, and most importantly—confident. The Dyslexie font, with its unique design tailored to reduce letter confusion and visual stress, has allowed these students to decode words with greater ease. The decodable text supports their phonics development and reinforces the strategies they are learning through structured literacy instruction. For the first time, some of my students are choosing chapter books over picture books—not because they have to, but because they want to. They see themselves as real readers now. This shift in mindset is more than just academic progress; it's a boost in self-esteem and a newfound belief in their own abilities. One student recently told me, \"I like reading now—it's not so hard anymore.\" These books have opened a door that had been closed for too long, and it's all thanks to the generosity of this donation. It's difficult to put into words the joy I see on their faces when they realize they can read something on their own. That moment of understanding, that spark of pride—it's priceless. This donation hasn't just provided books; it has provided hope, possibility, and a pathway to success for students who often feel left behind. My classroom has become a place where all readers feel included, supported, and celebrated. It's incredible to watch how the availability of the right resources can change a child's entire educational experience. I am deeply grateful for this gift that has allowed my students to unlock their potential. These books have become more than just tools for learning—they are symbols of empowerment. And for my students with dyslexia, that empowerment is leading to a future filled with possibilities they never imagined before. Thank you for giving them a reason to believe in themselves.","fullyFundedDate":1734099421584,"projectUrl":"project/books-for-dyslexic-students-engaging-re/8994614/","projectTitle":"Books for Dyslexic Students: Engaging Reads for Growing Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sipos","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9009818_orig.png?crop=288,288,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752515090652","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9009818"},{"teacherId":1110486,"projectId":8882091,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donations we have been able to provide some much needed sensory relief for students.
