We've been using them often, and they've quickly become an important part of how we start and end our day. One of the tools we've implemented is a daily feelings check-in, which gives students a simple but effective way to name their emotions and reflect on how they're doing. It's helped students feel more grounded and ready to learn, and it's opened up some meaningful conversations that weren't happening before.\r\n\r\n\r\nCurrently, we're working on implementing a SEL center during our literacy centers when students can work on emotional regulation and naming feelings. Next, we'll be connecting these skills to group work in academic settings — helping students apply SEL strategies when collaborating on assignments and managing classroom responsibilities. Your support helped make this possible — thank you again.","fullyFundedDate":1744901776649,"projectUrl":"project/social-emotional-learning-in-kinder/9163813/","projectTitle":"Social Emotional Learning in Kinder","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Annika","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9229031_orig.jpg?crop=424,424,x481,y1024&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743446582089","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9229031"},{"teacherId":6624253,"projectId":9338509,"letterContent":"Your donations have created an incredible learning environment for the students. I taught the same students the previous year. They had a Harry Potter theme and they wanted one for 5th. grade as well. They chose nature. So it was decided to create a mountain classroom. They were so excited to walk into the classroom. They adore the rug and they help to keep it clean. They take pride in the space they are learning. Since the books arrived, a few weeks ago, there has been a noticeable buzz of excitement in the classroom. Students who were previously reluctant readers are now eager to explore the new titles, and I've seen a wonderful increase in enthusiasm for reading. Students have eagerly wanted to take books home to continue reading beyond the school day. This access to the literature we are reading in class at home allows them to further immerse themselves in the story and strengthens their reading comprehension skills.\r\nBeyond the immediate impact on my students this year, these books will be a valuable resource for many more groups of students in the years to come, ensuring that your generosity continues to benefit our classroom for a long time.","fullyFundedDate":1739557494698,"projectUrl":"project/books-to-spark-minds-building-a-library/9078032/","projectTitle":"Books to Spark Minds: Building a Library for Lifelong Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Carissa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9243200"},{"teacherId":9232129,"projectId":8758795,"letterContent":"Thank you very much for your generosity!\r\nMy students and I are incredibly grateful for people like you. These resources have created new opportunities for learning through play, creativity, and collaboration. The snacks were also a huge help—many of the students I work with live in poverty and don't always have access to nutritious snacks, so your support met a very real need.\r\n\r\nThe gratitude I feel for complete strangers who are willing to help people they've never met is hard to put into words. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect beyond my knowledge of what my own preschool-ages child likes to do at home. On any given day my daughter prefers to engage in imaginative play over any other choices, so while creating this project I chose to ask for resources that would allow my students the ability to let their imagination and knowledge of the world as they know it lead.\r\n\r\nI have seen my students blossom this year as a result of fostering their imagination and encouraging play. Here we practice counting (apples at an apple orchard), sorting (working at a laundromat), fine motor skills (hanging clothes up to dry with clothespins), and much more.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, it is via play that my students have learned how to ask to join a group, apologize for a mistake made, or advocate for their needs. You have helped me make an invaluable impact on my kindergarten students and their social emotional growth this year. \r\nBy using the 8 wonderful books with social emotional stories, I was able to connect with my students and help them understand their feelings. Through the illustrations they saw the possibilities and all the different ways to solve problems, be kind, and appropriate ways to deal with their feelings. Our story time became an amazing and fun learning time. It boosted student's self-awareness and allowed them to manage their own emotions and helped them build meaningful relationships with others. This in turn gave us positive behaviors in and out of the classroom. Our classroom feels like a true community now where we help each other solve problems and be empathetic to others that might be having a rough time. \r\nWe were also able to use the \"Cuaderno de Escritura\" to teach proper letter formation. Your donation allowed us to purchase a book for every student in the class, minimizing the need to make copies. Students were overjoyed to receive a workbook in which they could practice all the letters we study. They take pride on making sure that their workbook is neat and clean. Students will be more prepared for first grade now that they are learning the correct way to write their letters.","fullyFundedDate":1727462676825,"projectUrl":"project/social-emotional-first/8563558/","projectTitle":"Social Emotional First","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Alma","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9297117"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_41879","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":454,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":59,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":20,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":73,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"15.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":79.9,"schoolId":41879,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Foster Dual Language Pre-Kindergarten - 8 School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Foster Dual Language Pre-Kindergarten - 8 School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/jefferson-county-school-district-r-1/foster-elementary-school/41879"}
