Specifically, they are learning about the batik process. Your supplies that were donated to our school are being used to make our school's \"prayer flags.\" Rather than religious, we talked about how their heart flags symbolize the message of love, compassion and kindness to those walking through our halls. \r\n\r\nThrough the batik process, students used the glitter glue which acts as the hot wax in the traditional process. Students painted in the open areas, scrubbed the glue out which revealed the white areas of the fabric. They are currently working on sewing yarn and adding the donated beads to them.\r\n\r\nThis project has been very engaging for the students. As a teacher, I was very proud to see students sew with yarn and a needle independently as they knew what to do from 2nd grade.
