The resources have become an important part of our routines, especially during transitions and times when students need to understand what is happening next. Visual schedules, choice supports, and other hands-on materials give students a way to see what is expected of them instead of always relying on an adult to explain or remind them.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments has been watching students use the visuals to make choices independently. A student who may have previously waited for an adult to tell them what activity was coming next can now look at the visual schedule and begin preparing for the next part of the day. Seeing that moment of understanding and independence is incredibly rewarding. It may seem like a small step, but for our students, these moments represent important progress.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, they were immediately curious and excited. The colorful and engaging visuals caught their attention, and they were eager to touch, explore, and learn how to use them. What has been even more exciting is seeing that initial enthusiasm turn into purposeful use. The materials are no longer simply something new in our classroom—they have become tools that students recognize and depend on throughout their day.\r\n\r\nThese resources are especially valuable because they allow students to communicate and participate in ways that work for them. Instead of simply being told what to do, students can look at their visual supports, process the information, and make decisions. This encourages them to take ownership of their learning and builds confidence in their abilities.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue incorporating these tools into our current lessons and classroom routines. We will keep practicing transitions, making independent choices, following visual schedules, and communicating preferences. As students become more comfortable with the resources, we will encourage them to use the visuals with fewer adult prompts. It has been especially wonderful to see students proudly explain their artwork and share the stories behind their creations.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new art materials, they were so excited to explore all of the colors and possibilities! Their faces lit up as they looked through the supplies and imagined what they could create. For many of my kindergarteners, art is a special way to express thoughts and feelings that they may not yet have the words to fully communicate. The donated materials have helped create a classroom where students feel encouraged to experiment, make choices, and celebrate their own unique creativity.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue using these materials as students create artwork connected to our classroom experiences and learning. We will continue exploring painting, drawing, and other creative techniques while encouraging students to tell the stories behind their artwork. The daily excitement during this time is contagious and so fun to watch. They have endless options of toys, candy, fidgets, stickers, and other fun prizes that were made possible thanks to you!!!\r\n\r\nThe students are always so amazed and happy during treasure box time and the joy they have everyday and pride they show during the day in their behavior and actions is shown all day so that they can earn their prize.
