I have way more Holocaust literature to share with my students now. I just started my World War II and Holocaust literature unit, and I have been working on incorporating some of the new literature into the unit. Although the students have not gotten to read the new books yet, I have heard from several of them that they are looking forward to some of the pieces I have told them about. With your support we added three new long-lasting, functional, moveable, and inviting tables to our courtyard garden. Along with multi-year improvements we have been making to turn the garden into a pollinator habitat featuring native species, this gift enhances the garden as a learning space and invites multiple classes to take advantage of this on-campus resource. \r\n\r\nThe hallway outside my classroom has a set of windows that face toward the courtyard garden. Each day I see our community in the garden- sometimes it is students performing group activities, sometimes a core class sitting at the tables working in small groups, many students enjoying lunch or a chat with friends, and sometimes faculty groups holding meetings after school. The additional tables and whiteboards purchased with our grant greatly enhance the use of this multi-dimensional space. \r\n\r\nThis is a gift that will continue to support learning over many years. The courtyard is in a very visible place in our school and the additional furniture helps send the message that it is an intentional space where everyone is welcome.
