Because of your generosity, my students now have access to BBC micro:bit kits, 3D printer filament, earbuds, an iPad mini, and essential classroom supplies that are transforming how they learn. These tools allow students to move beyond passive learning and actively engage in coding, design, and problem-solving. Instead of just talking about technology, students are using it—programming micro:bits, designing and testing ideas, and seeing their work come to life through hands-on STEM projects that build critical thinking and computational skills.\r\nThe most exciting part for students has been the ability to create and experiment independently. The micro:bits have sparked instant curiosity, especially as students write code and immediately see results through lights, sensors, and interactive outputs. The 3D printer filament has opened doors to design thinking, allowing students to prototype real-world solutions rather than just imagine them. The iPad mini and earbuds have made learning more accessible by supporting research, tutorials, and focused work time, helping students engage at their own pace and build confidence as creators.\r\nSeveral students who were once hesitant or disengaged have truly warmed up to this technology. Students who learn best through hands-on experiences have become leaders in the classroom—collaborating with peers, troubleshooting code, and proudly sharing their designs. Others who struggled with traditional learning formats are now more motivated and willing to take risks because they can learn through exploration and creativity. Thanks to your support, my students are not only learning technology—they are learning that their ideas matter and that they have the skills to shape the future.","fullyFundedDate":1767404578756,"projectUrl":"project/help-me-give-my-students-tech-for-creati/9974000/","projectTitle":"Help Me Give My Students Tech for Creative Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Roberts","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp388579_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1455623180659","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/dorian-roberts"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_74232","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":378,"numTeachers":23,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":81,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":14,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"5 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":37.8,"schoolId":74232,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Fisher Magnet Upper Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Fisher Magnet Upper Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/detroit-public-schools-community-district/fisher-magnet-school-upper-academy/74232"}
