The children have been over the moon with them! The polishing work has been an extra special hit, as has been the gorgeous blocks for creating designs. The lacing work has been exciting and is preparing them for the sewing kit that will on the shelves soon. It is always so wonderful to stand back, as a teacher, and watch the children explore and grow using materials in our prepared environment. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generosity, and for loving us and supporting us. This is no easy task for a 4-5 year old. Once they can count that high, they want to see how it's written, and then they want to write the numbers themselves. It's very exciting for them. Learning about numbers and gaining a solid sense of numbers is a foundational skillset that we foster in the Primary Classroom. The children were so excited to see these beautiful materials that feel so great between their fingers and provide such a satisfying feeling when everything is placed where it needs to be.\r\n\r\nThe books we requested have amazing subjects and beautiful illustrations (the best kind) and have been pulled out daily since I added them to the shelves. I am already seeing how they are encouraging wonder and curiosity as the older children have tried to recreate the images in their journals, and write imaginary stories about the illustrations. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for your support and for loving us. Our classroom is so much more wonderful and joyful because of your generosity. We couldn't do what we do without you. A bit shout out to the incredible support received by an Anonymous Supporter. It emphasizes creating a peaceful learning environment and equipping children with the skills to resolve conflicts and appreciate diversity. This approach goes beyond mere conflict resolution, aiming to cultivate empathy, cooperation, and a sense of shared humanity in children. But it begins with the teacher: \"... be humble and root out the prejudices lurking in our heart.\"~Maria Montessori\r\n\r\nThe books requested in this project are indeed guiding the children to learn about diverse cultures and background. They read to each other and have conversations about what they see in the books. All of this organic interaction with each other helps them naturally develop a sense of belonging to a larger global community. The stories found in these books, as well as the photos in the board books, are helping create an inclusive and respectful learning environment that will support the children's social and emotional development, as well. One of the third year students had an accident this past week and was upset about it, and a first year student (3-years of age) said to them \"I've had an accident before, too.\" It was beautiful. \r\n\r\nWe thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us and loving us. In a Montessori classroom, the children's sense of order if fostered by having colored pencils that match our Montessori math and geography materials. We have many homemade materials, too, like our sound books (which we need pretty card stock to create). Our new drying rack hasn't failed us, yet, and is so nice and sturdy. With these items, our students will have the things they need for day-to-day life in the classroom as they continue to learn, create, and grow! Thank you for your contribution to making that happen.
