Prior to the arrival, I explained to my students the purpose of Donors Choose and the reason for me requesting the items. I wanted to make sure that beside whole and small group instruction and centers in the classroom, that I was making sure that they had some additional support to help reinforce the various reading skills that they had learned in the past and are currently learning now.\r\n\r\nNeedless to say, they were excited. Once the materials arrived, I used a document camera to display the outline of the workbooks. I wanted them to understand the outline that each section had an activity for each day of the week. From the first time, they have worked in the workbooks, they have enjoyed it. At first, I was utilizing their time with the works during intervention and for a reading center. However, some have even asked to work in them outside of the designated time. They are really enjoy working in these workbooks. I also love that the students can work independently. Some of them also enjoy working in a small group with their friends.\r\n\r\nProgress\r\nThe students have now taken their third reading assessment for iReady. This is what I have noticed. Some of the students who were struggling with reading are enjoying reading more. Some are even asking to work in their reading comprehension workbooks when we are transitioning to another subject. And that makes me smile because I see their love for reading growing. \r\n\r\nData Results\r\nThere are three students who didn't increase, which include other factors I am not able to discuss. 1 student withdrew. Out of 32 students, 29 or 91% of the students increased in their reading levels from 3 to 62 points. \r\n\r\n I am extremely pleased with the students' progress. I am so grateful for Donors Choose. I am also very grateful for those who donated.","fullyFundedDate":1770598686822,"projectUrl":"project/reading-rocks/10070166/","projectTitle":"Reading Rocks","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Murray","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10422334"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_26535","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":279,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":88,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":57.1,"schoolId":26535,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Felton Laboratory Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Felton Laboratory Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-carolina/south-carolina-public-charter-school-district/felton-laboratory-school/26535"}
