Students have been using the Mr. Sketch markers, Sharpie ultra-fine markers, and Expo markers for writing, labeling, and illustrating their work, while Elmer's glue, hole reinforcements, and Scotch painter's tape help them assemble interactive projects and anchor charts. One memorable moment was during a collaborative math and literacy activity, where students gathered on our new Flagship Carpets circles abstract educational rug to work with the magnetic ten-frame, explain their thinking, and share ideas as a group.\r\n\r\nThe students were thrilled when the materials arrived. They were especially excited about the colorful markers and the new classroom rug, which instantly became a favorite spot for lessons and discussions. Seeing familiar classroom tools in fresh, high-quality supplies made students feel valued and motivated, and they were eager to put everything to use right away.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue using these materials to deepen their learning through interactive lessons and longer-term projects. We will use the magnetic ten-frame to strengthen number sense, the Stamp Joy premium refill ink for feedback and classroom routines, and the Scotch heavy-duty shipping tape to help create durable student-made resources. These supplies will support collaboration, creativity, and engagement as students reflect on their learning and share their work with confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1759170967780,"projectUrl":"project/art-supplies-for-visual-support/9610845/","projectTitle":"Art Supplies for Visual Support","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kamiya","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8363112"},{"teacherId":9469215,"projectId":9781776,"letterContent":"During hands-on activities with the new sensory materials, students immediately showed strong interest and excitement as they explored the new sensory toys. These materials created meaningful opportunities for students to try new experiences in a safe and engaging way.\r\n\r\nAs students explored the resources, they practiced important skills such as turn-taking, sharing with peers, and communicating their preferences. The sensory activities also supported curiosity, cooperation, and positive social interactions. These moments allowed students to build confidence, stay engaged, and enjoy learning together while developing essential social and self-regulation skills.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new sensory materials, they showed excitement and curiosity. Many students eagerly reached for the materials, smiled, and showed interest in exploring them right away. The new resources captured their attention and motivated them to participate in the activity.\r\n\r\nSome students carefully observed the materials at first, while others immediately engaged by touching, squeezing, or exploring the textures. Overall, the materials created a positive and welcoming learning experience, helping students feel comfortable, engaged, and excited to try something new. \r\n\r\nThe next steps for my students include continuing to use the sensory materials during structured small-group activities, learning centers, and calm-down times throughout the day. These resources will support ongoing lessons focused on self-regulation, fine motor development, language skills, and positive social interactions in alignment with the early goals of the Hawaii State Department of education.\r\n\r\nStudents will use the sensory materials as part of classroom projects that encourage exploration, turn-taking, and cooperative play. As they grow more familiar with the materials, they will practice making choices, expressing their needs, and participating more independently in activities. These experiences will help build confidence and prepare them for future learning, including kindergarten readiness skills.\r\n\r\nWith continued use, these materials will remain an important part of our daily routines and will continue to support a calm, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for all students.","fullyFundedDate":1759596864313,"projectUrl":"project/building-bright-futures-through-sensory/9781776/","projectTitle":"Building Bright Futures Through Sensory Exploration","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Woods","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9469215"},{"teacherId":9966912,"projectId":9772487,"letterContent":"This project has greatly improved how my students access learning each day. Your gift will transform our learning environment by creating a comfortable, adaptable space that promotes active engagement, collaboration, and hands‑on exploration—essential for building critical 21st‑century skills.\r\n\r\nSpecifically, the requested items will support student learning in these ways:\r\n\r\nA large, comfy 9‑foot round carpet will create a welcoming gathering area for group discussions, story time, and collaborative lessons, helping students focus and participate more readily.\r\n\r\nFlexible seating with Pearington plastic classroom stools will let students choose seating that supports their learning style and comfort, improving attention and engagement throughout the day.\r\n\r\nMagnetic tiles will provide hands‑on STEM experiences that develop critical thinking, spatial reasoning, creativity, and cooperative problem solving through open‑ended construction and play.\r\n\r\nThe STEM kits will play a central role in boosting engagement and creating a low‑stress learning environment. By offering open‑ended, hands‑on challenges, these kits invite students to experiment, test ideas, and take safe risks without fear of failure. This approach makes learning feel playful and exploratory—students stay more focused, try creative solutions, and build resilience as they learn that mistakes are a natural part of discovery.\r\n\r\nThis project will also encourage positive behavior. We will integrate these resources with our PBIS system by offering students the opportunity to spend Bee Bucks to earn extra library time for creating, reading, and learning together.
