I was able to work with teenagers building their math confidence with hands-on activities. It was a morale boost to start my year coming back from maternity leave. I am thankful for this platform and everyone who took time to donate. Not only does my classroom look better with some upgraded manipulatives. I have also been able to follow through with some bribes to get kids in the door to tackle math concepts, they avoid. It's the little things like this that make being a teacher doable. Students may not even realize a lack of quality items and so to just have them in place naturally makes the learning environment easier for everyone. Being a resource teacher it's my job to work on the goals, topics, subject areas that kids struggle with. Having fun tools makes it easier and has made the school year more quality. I can't take pictures of my students and publish them here. But just know the match donation went to great use.
