The materials provided helped me create a more engaging, organized, and dynamic classroom environment, which led to noticeable improvements in student participation, creativity, and academic growth.\r\n\r\n\"Where the Mountain Meets the Moon\" became a cornerstone of our reading curriculum. All 25 students received their own copy, which allowed us to read and explore the novel together as a class. Having individual copies meant that every student could read at their own pace, annotate the text, and engage in meaningful literary discussions. This not only boosted reading comprehension but also fostered a stronger love for reading across the class.\r\n\r\nThe Mr. Sketch Scented Markers were a huge hit! They were used in everything from anchor charts and posters to student-created projects. The fun scents and vibrant colors made lessons more interactive and gave students an expressive outlet during creative writing and art integration activities.\r\n\r\nWith the composition notebooks, students were able to maintain consistent, structured journals for both reading reflections and writing assignments. These notebooks became essential tools for tracking progress, developing ideas, and practicing daily writing skills.\r\n\r\nFinally, the Post-it Super Sticky Notes were a small but powerful tool. We used them for quick formative assessments, exit tickets, peer feedback, and group brainstorming sessions. Their bright colors and strong adhesive helped organize ideas visually, making collaboration easier and more effective.\r\n\r\nBecause of this project, I was able to implement a richer, more student-centered approach to teaching. None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of The DonorsChoose Community. Thank you for helping bring creativity, literacy, and joy into our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1755692767740,"projectUrl":"project/authentic-reading-opportunities/9328840/","projectTitle":"Authentic Reading Opportunities","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gerlach","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9748171_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763059458009","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9748171"},{"teacherId":9748171,"projectId":9032812,"letterContent":"This carpet has been invaluable! The books, and social emotional games are essential to learn in order to be successful in the classroom to learn math, reading, etc. It is important for students to learn how to be a good friend, manage emotions, be kind towards others with empathy, having gratitude, and so much more.\r\n\r\nI go into classrooms every week K-6 grade to teach about these core skills. These books have been very helpful and engaging during my lessons. After we read the books as a class, we do an activity to go with it so that the material sticks with them better. Then, I hang their projects in the hallway for others to see for a week, then they get to take it home to share with their family. I have had kids tell me, \"Mrs. Abbie, you do the most fun things when you come in here\". It makes me happy knowing that they are enjoying the reading materials as much as I do!\r\n\r\nWhen I see kids individually, I sometimes find a book that resonates with whatever they are going through. For an example, I had a freshman come in to tell me she has been struggling with anxiety. I pulled out the book \"Anxiety Survival Guide for Teens\" and we have been reading it together for some time now. She has been trying the different tools in the book and has mentioned it has been helping her.\r\n\r\nSome kids I work with learn better with hands on stuff. I have a student I see individually that struggles with a lack of empathy and friendship. The Lakeshore games have been extremely helpful because he has to answer questions with different scenarios.\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you so much for your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1727120343188,"projectUrl":"project/the-power-of-positive-thinking/8814814/","projectTitle":"The Power of Positive Thinking","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Abbie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9752184_orig.jpg?crop=3555,3555,x514,y942&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748976443301","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9752184"},{"teacherId":9753305,"projectId":8792018,"letterContent":"My classroom received so many amazing items through this project. With the ball holder, my classroom has become much more organized. We are able to place all of our recess items in it in a nice location. With the books, my students have more of a variety in our classroom library. The books also contributed to our writing curriculum, and we now have all necessary books to follow along with the lessons. The magnetic shelves are perfect for displaying our weekly reading concepts, vocabulary words, and story. My students love positive incentives.
